Windows are checked against two standards.

AS 2047 covers the assembly and establishes performance by design testing. Water pe*******on, wind pressure, deflection, air leakage. Each one measured, and the result marked on the unit.

AS 1288 covers the glass inside it: type and thickness against wind load, and Grade A glazing where the location demands it. Satisfy one and not the other and the window is not compliant.

If your project needs a DA, council assesses it on merit. That means the local plan, the control plan, the likely impacts, what the neighbours say, and whether the site genuinely suits what you're proposing. Two to six months, typically.
