The most common causes for leaks in the shower recess are listed below.
Using a Copper tray will reduces all the risk taken in todays waterproofing techniques such as movement, membrane failure and grout and sealant integrity.
Most of the bathrooms we have attended with water leaking issues all seem to leak at the rear wall where no water stops are used.
Grout and sealant integrity:
Grout and sealant materials, particularly those situated between tiles and along joint interfaces (e.g., floor-wall junctures), are susceptible to degradation, including cracking, crumbling, or deterioration, which can facilitate water infiltration behind the tile surfaces, potentially compromising the underlying wall or floor structural components.
Structural movement:
Minor structural shifts within the building can induce separation in shower pan assemblies or tile junctures, thereby compromising the integrity of seals and waterproofing measures.
Waterproofing membrane failure:
Tiled shower installations incorporate a waterproofing membrane beneath the tile layer; any compromise to this membrane, whether due to degradation or improper initial installation, can result in water pe*******on through the grout, potentially leading to water damage within the building's structural framework.
