Moncur House | Modern Extension

Designed as a considered city base for clients who primarily live on a rural property, this project focused on creating a home that feels both practical and calm to return to. A key requirement was improving parking—making the most of the rare opportunity for double off-street spaces in this inner-city location.

Through careful reconfiguration, the design and build team opened the home to a full-width rear extension, introducing light-filled kitchen, living and dining areas that connect seamlessly to a central courtyard.

At the rear, particular attention was given to materiality and sight lines. Handmade Krause Emperor bricks were selected for their elongated profile and soft, sand-toned finish. Artisanaly crafted from natural clay, each brick carries subtle variations in size, tone and texture—bringing depth, warmth and character to the faƧade. šŸ¤

The design and build team worked closely with our landscape team to create a low maintenance, welcoming garden.🌿

Swipe to see the transformation - WOW !

Moncur House | Project Release

We’re excited to share the professional photography of our recently completed Moncur House in Woollahra.

A wide Victorian terrace, thoughtfully reimagined as a refined and functional city retreat. The brief was to carefully renovate and refresh a home that had remained largely untouched—modernising finishes, enhancing natural light and creating a more effortless, easy-living environment.

Designed as a city base for clients who primarily live rurally, the home balances practicality with considered design.

We’ll be sharing more from this project over the coming weeks. To view the full project, head to our website. āž”ļø āž”ļø šŸ–„ļø

Great joinery doesn’t just fill a room. It defines how you move through it.⁣
⁣
For the Bellevue Hill Residence, we partnered with to deliver something quietly ambitious: a central joinery pod that anchors the entire ground floor. Storage, study, display, all within one considered volume. Zones without walls. Sightlines preserved. Light doing the work.⁣

Creative Director Jeremy Unger shares his perspective on the project in our latest Interior Insight. Read the entire interview here https://www.ispacesolutions.com.au/journal/interior-insight-jeremy-unger

Melbourne Design Week | Design Highlights #1

One of the standout exhibitions from our Melbourne Design Week visit was 100 CHAIRS, presented by Friends & Associates at Abbotsford Convent.

Set within the atmospheric old laundry — the exhibition brought together the work of more than 100 Australian creatives, studios, artists, architects and design practices, all exploring the chair as a sculptural and functional medium.

Each piece celebrated Australian design and craftsmanship in its own unique way, from playful and experimental forms to beautifully resolved, timeless designs. The diversity of materials, detailing and creative thinking on display made this exhibition a real highlight for our team.

Safe to say, we all could have taken a few chairs home with us.

Edward Street | Client Brief

At the heart of the brief was a desire to reimagine the kitchen as a refined, functional centrepiece of the home. The focus was on improving flow and strengthening the connection to the surrounding garden and bushland.

This connection informed the material direction, with the interiors team selecting green Bizanto stone paired with warm oak joinery—grounding the space in a palette that feels both considered and inherently tied to its landscape. šŸ’š

Hargrave Terrace | Paddington

Looking back at one of our past terrace transformations in Paddington.

Celebrating the home’s original character, we retained the existing fireplace and the archway to gently connect the two living spaces. Generous room proportions and an abundance of natural light were the perfect foundation for our design team to work with.

At Modify, we make building and renovating simple, seamless and considered—from concept through to completion. Get in touch, we’d love to hear about your project. ā˜Žļø

Frederick House | Progress Report šŸ“ø

A morning site visit to this beautiful, grand home — and major progress is underway.

On the ground floor, the new concrete slab has been laid, extending out to the verandah and framing views across the Double Bay valley with glimpses of the harbour.

Upstairs, internal framing has commenced, with the original windows carefully retained and restored, ready to be reinstalled.

We also took advantage of the incredible light on site — capturing portraits of our office and build team members, against the backdrop of the home’s striking sandstone walls. Portraits captured by
