Sydney Opera House. A symbol of Australian Design and Construction Achievement. Known all over the world and home to thousands of unforgettable experiences. I think we can all appreciate this building for one reason or another. One of our operators added another reason to his list after scanning for some future works at the Opera House and that is the accuracy of alignment and quality of the build. Looking beneath the surface told a story of absolute care and craftsmanship involved in this beloved and iconic building. If only we could meet the crews that put this place together because from what we’ve seen, they were masters of their craft.

Guess who has a new Locator on the roster? Say howdy to our Ace in The Hole: Waddo. The Rootinest-Tootinest-Shootinest… okay the cowboy stuff is wearing a little thin but THIS GUY is our newest Locator. Coming soon to a site near you! (also, yes that is a hardhat and yes it conforms to AS/NZS 1801:1998) I’m sure he’d be happy to share where he got it too!

One of the best things about being a Utilities Locator and Concrete Scanner is the diversity of clients that we look after. Occasionally, they’ll surprise you and bring a smile to your face. Today is international steel mesh day. (Don’t look it up, we just invented it) To celebrate, we scanned an entire slab to illustrate just how perfectly level the mesh will always be. Cover depths in black.

Bondek Soffit getting in the way? Easy. Scan from the top of the slab, measure your work area, re-mark on the floor below and then transfer via line laser to the soffit. There you have it, transfer or post tension markings to soffit. Bondek be damned!

When marking Post Tension within a slab, Operators are trained to mark from the outside edges of signal return. This helps add an additional safety buffer whilst providing a clearly defined "No-Go" Zone.
