Hello Members, Mariners and Marine Modellers,
Well it's been awhile since my last report back in April/May.
Life has been so busy over the last few months with numerous challenges, health issues and very busy work life.
So, sorry for the lack of posts and information.
The next few months are looking to be extremely busy for club.

So, over the last few months we’ve had two (2) regattas and a day of celebration. The Sunshine Coast Model Boat Club is only a relatively young club in the scheme of things. Approximately Forty (40) years ago, a coupe of gentlemen who were meeting occasionly to sail their scale model boats decided to start inviting the public along to watch and join in and started a social group. As they say from small things big thing will grow and so did the model boat group, eventually into a club and here we are today.

Ok, on Sunday 31th May, we the SCMBC hosted an Interclub Tugboat Paddle Boat, Working Craft Day at our home port at the University of Sunshine Coast were the club has been based for the last Twenty-Two (22) + years. With a good morning of sailing everyone settled into a good feast for morning tea and a couple of speeches and several awards to long standing members. This was a great day with many past members joining the current members with many stories being exchanged with much laughter and many more smiles.

To follow on from that great day we moved onto our Naval Military themed SCMBC – Interclub D-Day Invasion Naval Military Regatta in late June, at the great venue called, Leafy Lane Lakes, on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. Sunday morning everyone arrived to what was a little chilly but the clouds disappeared and the sun was out with only a very slight breeze which made for an almost perfect conditions for scale models and just enough for the sail vessels. Over the morning the club members were joined by the site manager for a tour our what is looking good for a great model boating site. Again, the hard-working Kristy had baked some amazing biscuits and slices for morning tea followed by pumpkin soup and potato and leek soup for lunch. Must have been good as both pots were scraped clean with the remaining bread rolls. It was great to see members from other Model boat groups in attendance and enjoying the day alongside the SCMBC members. You guys are welcome back anytime.

Late July, we had our AGM, with all the reports and elections. After which we had the previous committee returned unopposed and one new member to join the ranks.
Now that August has arrived, we have an Interclub Sail and Scale Regatta Day on the 23rd.
Then September is shaping up to be a very big month with a Bunnings Fundraising Sasage Sizzle at Maroochydore on the !st, followed up by our display at the Sunshine Coast Model Train and Hobby Expo on the 5th, a Father’s Day Morning Sail on the 6th, and the Interclub Schooner, Square Rig and Vintage Sail Regatta late September on the 27th.
October will start with another display day, Plains Trains and Automobiles Event at the local Airport and Air Museum on the 3rd.

More on these events soon.
