Patience in the first week after laying turf pays off.

Giving it time to settle properly helps protect the finish, keeps the surface even and makes the first mow much easier.

A few extra days off the lawn now can save you from fixing dents, low spots and scalped patches later.

Wintergreen Couch is tough and can grow on rocks, but if the soil underneath isn’t right, the turf still won’t look its best.

The right soil amendments, fertilisers and trace elements are what help it grow properly and stay healthy.

Good turf still needs good soil underneath it.

Healthy grass starts with healthy ground.

This process helps break up and loosen the soil beneath the surface, giving the turf better conditions to grow.

The results speak for themselves. The section treated around a month ago is already looking noticeably healthier and stronger, while today’s section should begin showing the same improvement over the coming weeks.

We’ve been looking at a new type of grass for the farm - Cobalt Buffalo.

Cobalt's a different beast than the buffalo we've been growing. The leaf is noticeably larger, the runners are thicker, and the bigger leaf surface catches more sunlight - which makes the shade tolerance great.

Not every job on the farm is a favourite, but it’s all part of growing quality turf from the ground up on the Sunshine Coast.

The first few weeks after laying turf can determine how well your lawn performs for years to come.

Watering plays the biggest part in that. We can’t say it enough.

Stay on top of that, and you’ll be rewarded with a stronger, healthier lawn long-term.

Palmetto Buffalo the hero for shady yards.

Its broader leaf helps it make better use of the sunlight that is available, allowing it to perform with as little as four hours of direct sunlight per day.

It’s a strong choice for South East Queensland homes looking for a lush, reliable lawn in trickier growing conditions.

📣 PUBLIC HOLIDAY CLOSURE

Wild Horse Turf will be closed this Monday for the public holiday, giving the crew a well-earned long weekend.

And, perhaps more importantly, giving Dean a full extra day to emotionally recover from Sunday night’s NRL Grand Final. 😂

As a lifelong Knights supporter, he’ll either be celebrating like Newcastle has declared its own public holiday… or wandering quietly around the turf farm asking not to be spoken to.

Either way, best we give him Monday. ❤️💙

We’ll be back on deck Tuesday, ready to cut, deliver and talk turf.

Enjoy the long weekend — and UP THE KNIGHTS! 🏉

A brown lawn doesn’t always mean a dead lawn.

Depending on the turf variety and how far the damage has progressed, there’s a good chance it can recover with the right treatment.
