Good evening, it’s just your familiar hairy tradie dropping some unsolicited career advice 🫡

15+ years in the trade means I’ve worked with a few characters (and a whole lot of legends too).

So if you’re building a career in the trades, here are 5 things I reckon you should probably avoid… 👇
What would you add to the list?

Sometimes life forces you to make a move.

I bought our first property the same week I lost my FIFO job.

Not exactly how I’d planned it.

At the time, it felt like everything was going backwards.

Looking back, losing that job probably forced me to make some decisions I’d been putting off.

15+ years in the trade has taught me a lot about work.

But it’s also taught me a lot about what you do when the plan changes.

This is the story 👆

Client: “We just need supply only!”

Me: Spends the afternoon pairing 20 remotes and making sure all 20 units actually work.

Couldn’t leave it half-done if I tried. Happy Friday, legends.

🚀 NEW ROLE 🚀

If big refrigeration is more your thing, KEEP READING.

Commercial Refrigeration Tech — Bundaberg, QLD.

Permanent, $55–65/hr, take-home Hilux with a fuel card.

The work’s the good bit.

Mostly big cold storage — Bitzer, proper commercial plant, and some brand new custom-engineered gear that most techs never get near.

Bit of VRF and warehouse HVAC on top.

Barely any domestic.

Team’s about 8–10 and still growing.

They’re after someone who can actually chase a fault down, not just swap the part and hope.

Cert III, ARCtick and a QLD restricted electrical ticket.

Happy to just have a confidential chat first if that suits better.

DM me or give me a ring on 0478 719 329.

Know a good fridgy?
Send this to them
