A closer look at the waterproofing works underway 🔍

ARDEX WPM 1000 waterproofing membrane is being installed as part of the new waterproofing system. The membrane is pressure sealed against the internal skin using metal strips and sealant, securing it against the brickwork and helping prevent water from getting behind the membrane and compromising the cavity flashing.

New balustrades will be installed before the next stage of waterproofing, allowing the membrane to be integrated around the balustrade fixings.

It may look like peeling paint or stained walls, but rising damp is often a sign of moisture moving through your building.

Rising damp occurs when moisture from the ground is drawn up through porous building materials such as brick, stone and mortar. As the moisture rises, it can leave behind a range of visible signs, including:

💧Paint blistering and peeling
💧Stained walls
💧Deteriorating plaster
💧 Mould growth
💧Efflorescence (white salt deposits)

One of the main ways to prevent rising damp is with a damp-proof course (DPC), a moisture barrier installed at the base of a wall. However if the DPC is damaged, deteriorated or bridged, moisture can bypass the barrier and continue rising through the wall.

At Bellmont, we investigate water ingress and related defects, including rising damp, to identify the source of the problem and recommend the right solution before further damage occurs.

Step inside the bell tower at St George’s Orthodox Church in Rose Bay 🔔

Engineering plays a vital role in protecting the buildings that shape our communities. By restoring the bell tower, we’re helping preserve an important piece of Sydney’s heritage.

This project focuses on restoring the structural integrity of the concrete tower by removing deteriorated concrete, repairing corroded reinforcement and installing galvanic corrosion protection to help provide long-term durability.

Every stage of the works is carefully planned to preserve this iconic local heritage building while extending the life of the structure.

Have you ever seen the inside of a bell tower from this perspective?

Come behind the scenes with Bellmont as we deliver this comprehensive waterproofing project.

Key waterproofing areas include:
☔ Entire roof area
☔ Concrete ledges
☔ External face of the roof parapet

The new waterproofing system features the Fatrafol 807V PVC membrane, supplied by Fatra, providing a durable waterproofing solution for the roof.

The works also involve the removal and reinstalment of balustrades, remediation of the staircase landing room and repairs to the parapet before the new waterproofing system is applied.

To ensure safe access throughout the project, rope access anchor points have also been installed across the roof.

Every detail plays an important role in protecting the building from water ingress and improving its long-term performance.

The hidden details are often the ones that make all the difference.

As part of a full rectification on 24 balconies, new cavity flashings are being installed to improve drainage and strengthen the building’s waterproofing system.

While they’re hidden from view once the project is complete, cavity flashings are a critical part of a building’s waterproofing system. They help direct water back to outside of the building, reducing the risk of water ingress and helping protect the structure - which is especially important in Sydney’s climate.

Stay tuned as we continue to share progress from the site and follow along for more insights into engineering, waterproofing and remedial projects across Sydney.

A new project is taking shape in Bondi Beach.

This space is about to be completely reimagined, with walls being removed to create a more open and functional interior.

Behind the scenes, our engineers are hard at work designing a new structural system to support the upgrade. Once designed, the existing walls will be removed, remedial works undertaken, and the vision brought to life.

Stay tuned for behind the scenes updates on this project.
