We’re lucky to work on some incredible projects, but every now and then we have the privilege of working on a truly special property.

For the past three years, we’ve been the trusted plumbing team for The Hermitage, a stunning 250-acre estate in The Oaks.

We’re proud to support iconic local properties like this and incredibly grateful for the long-term relationships we build with our clients. There’s no better compliment than being asked back time and time again.

"I've been using Stay Afloat Plumbing for the past 3 years. James is one of the most knowledgeable and professional tradespeople I have had the pleasure of dealing with, and that extends to his team. For my part, I would not hesitate to recommend Stay Afloat Plumbing for any commercial and domestic plumbing issues."

— Warren Clarke, General Manager, The Hermitage

A recent water leak investigation led our team to a damaged section of underground pipework supplying a commercial property.

What appeared to be a leak in the footpath turned out to be far more significant beneath the surface. After carefully excavating the area, we discovered extensive ground and road subsidence caused by ongoing water loss, along with damage to a 100mm copper fitting resulting from underground boring works.

To complete the repair, we coordinated with the site tenant, isolated the water supply, removed the damaged components, and installed new copper pipework to restore the service. Once complete, the system was slowly brought back online, with air purged from the line and comprehensive testing carried out to ensure everything was operating as intended.

Underground leaks can often go unnoticed until they begin causing visible damage. Early investigation and repair helps prevent further infrastructure damage, water loss, and costly disruptions to site operations.

Another damaged sewer line repaired 💪🏼

Upon inspection, we identified a split section of existing clay pipework, allowing tree roots to pe*****te and obstruct the line. We hand excavated to expose the affected area and remove the damaged section of pipe.

We then replaced with new PVC pipework, with all joints properly sealed and backfilled around pipework using blue metal to ensure adequate support and drainage. We also installed a new inspection riser to allow for visual inspection and improved future access. The system was tested and confirmed to be functioning correctly.

Common leaks we see in homes!

1) Burst Flexi-Hoses - Keep an eye out and look for signs of any frayed hoses, rust/corrosion and/or swelling. This is a good indication it is time to replace your flexi-hoses.

2) Leaking Toilets - if your toilet cistern is periodically filling, water lines running into the bowl, or a discoloured line at the back of the bowl, your toilet may be leaking.

3) External Leaks - If you have green grassy patches, wet spots, mud, or sitting water in dry weather you may have an in ground leak.

If you have any of these signs around your home. It may be time to get in contact with us.

New hot water system in new location ✅

A recent installation of this new Rinnai B26 instantaneous hot water unit. Our client required the hot water unit to be relocated to a new location to accommodate for a planned solar battery installation. We identified an new suitable location, adjusted the pipework and connections to integrate with the existing plumbing infrastructure, then commissioned and tested the new system for correct operation, flow, and temperature.

A great result all round!

We love what we do! Forever grateful for feedback like this. Thank you Roslyn 🤩

Another blockage sorted!

We attended site to investigate a sewer overflow from the gully, along with gurgling noises coming from the laundry and kitchen, both clear signs something wasn’t flowing as it should.

After inspecting the system, we identified a significant grease build-up causing a blockage in the overflow relief gully.

Using high-pressure jet blasting, we cleared the line, removed all obstructions, and restored proper sewer flow.

All internal fixtures and the external gully were tested on completion, with everything running as it should, no more overflow and no more gurgling.

If you’re noticing similar signs around your property, it’s best to get on top of it early.
