Taking on your first home extension is exciting—but it can also feel like stepping into the unknown. 🏡🔨

🏠 WHEATSHEAF PROJECT - The Finishing Stages!

Scaffolds down, rain jackets on - but the progress never stops! 🌧️

Major updates since last visit: ✅ Black Butt timber window shrouds installed ✅ Stria + Oblique cladding complete ✅ Internal framing for service areas ✅ Plasterers battening ready for finish ✅ Kitchen bulkhead framing complete

Spotted gum reality check: Those natural tannins bleeding out? Totally normal for hardwood! 🌳 We're letting it happen naturally (best way IMO) then painting over once fully weathered. BAL 29 rated so we're all good to use timber here.

The science bit: This house will be SO airtight we need an HRV system (Heat Recovery Ventilation) up in that service ceiling!

Why? Average adult produces 20kg of water v***r daily (10kg for kids) - that's a LOT! Without mechanical ventilation = condensation = mold = health issues. Think of HRV as the building's lungs! 🫁

Remember: Cladding = rain screen. The WRB does the real weather protection work behind the scenes 💪

The setup: 🔸 14mm thick x 300mm wide James Hardie Stria 🔸 Gable ends: Clean 300mm pattern 🔸 Side walls: Mixed 300mm + 200mm pattern (going to look incredible!) 🔸 Proper James Hardie trims at required intervals

Installation details that matter: ✅ 10mm gaps (easier than required 6mm) ✅ One nail per batten fixing point ✅ James Hardie sealant at top joins ✅ Polyurethane beads in tight corners ✅ Minimal visible fixings for clean finish
