A great success for AFS Projects! The replacement of 3 Mainline Valve assemblies on a High Vapour Pressure Liquid Pipeline.
AFS Projects are proud to have demonstrated that we can professionally and safely execute complex projects at a much lower price than our larger competitors.
In addition to the procurement, engineering and fabrication, our scope included the clearing and reintroduction of product into the pipeline. Clearing an HVPL pipeline is a complex operation as product behaviour must be considered as both a liquid and as a gas. We developed an innovative procedure that allowed us to clear the product efficiently and safely from the pipeline. The process was executed according to plan at every stage of the project.
Once the pipeline had been cleared all three MLVs were replaced simultaneously in one day to minimise pipeline down time. The pipeline was back in service two days later.
The project was completed with no incidents, extending AFS Projects’ impeccable safety record.

Another successful project completed on the WAG pipeline. The project was completed for Viva Energy, Goodman Group and GHD. The project involved 2 intersections leading in to the Chifley Business Park at the Moorabbin Airport over the WAG pipeline.
Pipeline protection works included 235m of 24" recoating and the installation of a pipeline sleeve.
AFS Projects also managed all of the regulatory requirements including the Safety Management Study.
