Why wrap timber fluting around an island instead of leaving it flat? It's partly the look, but it's also practica. Fluted panels hide the small dents and knocks that happen in a busy kitchen far better than a flat surface does.

Terrazzo is not just for floors.

This splashback uses a rose-flecked terrazzo tile, warmed up further by LED strip lighting tucked under the top cabinets. Paired with handle-less oak veneer doors and a black induction cooktop, it turns what is usually the most overlooked wall in the kitchen into the actual feature.

Choosing the right stone can carry an entire kitchen.

This island uses a single slab of natural stone, cut so the veining runs continuously down the waterfall edge, with the same stone repeated on the splashback behind. Warm timber veneer cabinetry frames it on both sides.
