Electrical fault that could have ended much worse.

Firefighters attended this home after a power point began arcing and creating smoke. The power had already been shut off when we arrived so we could safely inspect the installation.

We located the damaged cable behind the outlet, repaired the fault, installed a new power point and tested the circuit before restoring power so the home could safely return to normal.

This situation was completely preventable.

With the proper circuit protection in the switchboard, the fault would have been detected and shut down much earlier before it escalated to a potential fire risk.

If you’re unsure about the protection in your switchboard, it’s worth getting it checked. A quick inspection can prevent serious problems later.

Give us a call and we'll happily check it out for you

Ants in a switchboard… who would’ve thought they could cause so many issues.

This customer had several circuits in their switchboard tripping randomly. At first glance everything looked normal — no obvious faults and no ants in sight.

I stepped away to inspect other parts of the property and when I came back the ants were swarming through the board.

Ants love getting inside breakers and electrical gear. Once enough of them build up around the terminals and contacts they can interfere with the breaker and cause circuits to trip.

In this case the electrical installation itself was fine. The real solution is keeping the area around the switchboard maintained and organising routine pest control so they don’t keep moving back in.

Just another reminder that electrical faults aren’t always wiring or appliances… sometimes it’s thousands of tiny tenants where they shouldn’t be. 🐜⚡

Dad’s signs used to be everywhere. As a kid, I remember driving around town and spotting them on houses and thinking it was the coolest thing in the world. It made me proud.

I reckon that’s probably one of the reasons I still believe in signs today. They might not be the flashiest form of advertising, but to me they mean something. They remind me of where it all started.

I remember plenty of customers asking him if they could keep the sign out the front of their house after he finished their kitchen. Some of them left them there for years. Every now and then someone would even come back to the shop and say, “The sign out the front has finally fallen apart… can I get another one?”

And Dad would happily give them a new one.

When people are proud enough to leave your sign out the front of their house, that means you’ve done something right.

Electrical work is hidden in roofs and walls most of the time, but I still want to deliver the same level of quality and service Dad did. He always went the extra mile for his customers.

I wish he was still around so I could learn more from him. But growing up watching him every day taught me more than I probably realised at the time.

Thanks for showing me the way, Dad.

⚡ Meet Alex – The Newest Member of the Feltus Electrical Team! ⚡

We’d like to officially introduce Alex, who has been with us for the past few months. It’s been a busy period, and he has settled in extremely well.

We’ve already had a number of customers ask if Alex can come back next time — which is always great feedback to hear.

I’m very grateful to have Alex on board. He works hard, has excellent attention to detail, and takes real pride in his work. Having Alex in the team has freed me up to quote more jobs and keep things moving faster, which has been a huge help as the business continues to grow.

I also really appreciate the private messages from customers letting me know what a great job Alex has done. Those messages mean a lot.

We now have more capacity to take on new work, so if you’re needing an electrician or would like to book Alex in, give us a call — I’d be more than happy to help.

Welcome to the team, Alex 👏⚡

Had the privilege of sitting down with these legends to talk all things business.
Learnt a lot from the chat, it’s always amazing what you can pick up from other business owners, even if they’re in completely different industries.

Highly recommend giving it a listen. Tune into the “Your Number Man” podcast on Spotify – worth it. 👌

Full house at BNI Visitor Day!
I had the chance to do a 10-minute presentation about my business in front of over 20 visitors and the entire chapter.
We covered everything from dodgy DIY jobs, scary electrical finds, installs that’ll make your OCD twitch… and a few laughs in between. And how we can help solve them all.

Thanks to everyone who came along!

We removed an asbestos-backed board and old ceramic fuses, and upgraded this switchboard to meet today’s safety standards.

✅ More reliable
✅ Clearly labelled so the customer knows exactly what’s what

Another step toward peace of mind for this homeowner.
