How do you set a project up for success before design even begins?

For most of our clients, it starts two or three years before they build. The right site, the right size, early cost advice, and a design that leaves room for the business to grow.

Talking early means the design is right from day one, which means less admin and fewer surprises on cost.

Creating the best outcome for each project only works if we stay connected to where the industry is heading.

That's why we'll be attending and sponsoring Tasmanian Major Projects Conference in Hobart on the 16 and 17 September. Listening to others and helping to design Tasmania’s future through major projects.

If you're attending next week, come and say hello. We'd love to hear what you've got planned.

A new home for Tasmania's next generation of automotive technicians.

When JMC Property Group set out to deliver Tas TAFE's new automotive training facility, the brief called for a fully open training floor, doors wide enough to take fixed-wing or rotary aircraft, and offices fitted to TasTAFE's specification.

In this video, Errol Stewart, Managing Director of JMC Group, walks through how the project came together.

A few details worth noticing:

•The training floor is completely clear span. With no columns interrupting the space, TasTAFE can rearrange bays, vehicles and equipment as their programs evolve. The building adapts to the people using it.

•The roof was assembled at ground level and lifted into place in one piece. That meant less work at height, a shorter program, and real savings on a building this size.

•The offices were fitted out to TasTAFE's specification by the same team that delivered the structure and slab, from first drawing to handover.

"They're fair, they're honest, and they deliver on time."

Thanks to Errol and the JMC team for trusting us with it. The facility now belongs to the students and teachers who will use it for decades, which is the part we like best.

If you are planning a facility of your own, we are always happy to chat.

Project Update: Inghams, Hobart Airport Freight Precinct

Progress continues on site at the Inghams project, where Bison has designed and delivering a purpose-built facility. This distribution centre has been specifically designed around Inghams’ operational requirements, with a focus on functionality, workflow, compliance and long-term site efficiency. Current works are tracking well, with PIR panel installation nearing completion, office fitout in progress and external hardstand pours progressing across the site.

We look forward to handing over the project later this year.

The Story Behind the Build: Project GRASP

Every project has a story. This project was one built on collaboration, trust and a shared commitment to delivering the right outcome.

From the early planning and design development phase through to construction and completion, we worked alongside Bejo Australia and the wider project team to deliver a purpose-built facility that will support the future of Australian seed processing.

This video captures more than a completed building. It celebrates the people, partnerships and shared vision that brought Project GRASP to life. A big thank you to Tassie Visuals for capturing the project.

Project Highlight: Link Logistics, Cambridge TAS

We recently delivered a purpose-built cold storage facility for Link Logistics International within the Hobart Airport Freight Precinct. The facility includes temperature-controlled freezer capacity down to -50°C, an in-ground dock, dual site access, and supporting office and logistics spaces.

Delivered in just over 5 months, the project supports Link Logistics’ continued growth and expanded storage services for the Tasmania food industry.

Project Commencement: Stage 2 Warehouse, Western Junction

Following the successful delivery of Stage 1 at Western Junction, Bison Constructions is back on site and underway with Stage 2.

Machines are now on site, with earthworks and services progressing for the next 2,650m² of warehouse space. This stage continues the growth of the facility and builds on the strong foundation already delivered through Stage 1.

There is always something satisfying about seeing the next stage of a project come to life. Months of planning, design discussions and decision-making are now becoming visible on site. As with every Bison project, the same team involved in shaping the design and planning is now delivering the build, keeping decisions aligned and the project moving with certainty.
