A part of the wall
From the ground up and the process of intergrading sizes and shapes that will lock and strengthen with time.

Final days in the mud
Will pop back after I’ve removed the 3 inches of mud baked on the boot soles, a bit seed on the rolling hill.
Onto the next project before the snow sets in and the mountain trails close for another season

The mood of the mountains changes from hour to hour day to day. One of the magical factors and the reminder of constant change. Personally we love it. Perhaps more so with reflections of yesterday. As the moment may be challenging.

Walking through the mountains. Making observations, looking for an introduced species. Hoping it has fallen into a dormant cycle associated with disturbance and the ability for a species to colonise through opportunity.. The great divide is a complex range of high rainfalls, mixed species from the tropical far north to the temperate forests of the southern states. Many similar plant species occur in all areas of the range. The dominant canopy species often changing with the temperatures of altitude and our fire prone landscapes. The eucalypt spp often the dominant canopy. From alpine ash and snow gum in the southern states. Both species becoming greatly affected by change. Natural imbalance and introduced changes to a fragmented landscape. Yet in between the reminances of once rain forest species. With plants demonstrating their history by means of reproduction. Old flowering shrubs consisting of male and female plants such as the mountain peppers found from Queensland to Victoria. One of my favourites the mountain plum pine. Interestingly 5 species of Podocarpus occur on our great divide. All found within rain forest areas from the tropics to the alpine regions. Southern sassafras pocketed in isolated areas in the valley below. These species do not enjoy fire. Yet here we find them amongst forests greatly influenced by fire and drying continent. As plants hybrids to adjust to environmental changes some still demonstrate a history of the past. 25 years I’ve personally walked this landscape in the alpes. Prior to that 15 years on the same range thousands of kilometres in the tropical north. The range locations of high rainfalls that feed the southern ranges with migratory bird life and insects.
Many things change with time yet many observations of similarities remain. The year ends and another begins. Observations of change.
Just thoughts of a landscape in change.
