This wasn’t your average fence.

🔹 150 x 150mm x 3.6m hardwood posts
🔹 Installed at 1.8m centres
🔹 Post depth: 1.5-1.7 metres (most around 1.6-1.7m)

Is it overkill?

Maybe to some. But not in my books.

This fence sits right on the Portsea beachfront, where it’s exposed to strong coastal winds, salt air and harsh conditions year after year. I’d rather build it once, build it properly, and give my client complete confidence that it’s going to stand the test of time.

For me, fencing isn’t about doing the bare minimum. It’s about understanding the site, the conditions and building accordingly. That’s why we go above and beyond wherever it’s practical to do so.

I don’t call this just putting up a fence. It’s a craft, and I genuinely love what I do.

At the end of the day, the biggest reward isn’t getting paid. It’s seeing the smile on a customer’s face when they stand back and look at the finished result. Providing for my family is important, of course, but knowing I’ve built something that my client can be proud of for years to come is what drives me every day.

One small note: I’d avoid saying your work is “above Australian Standards” unless you can specifically substantiate that claim. A safer wording is that you build to meet or exceed the requirements for the site or that you use construction methods that go beyond the minimum approach where appropriate. That keeps the message strong while avoiding a claim that could be challenged.
