We are often asked where the name YANTA came from.

It’s not a clever acronym or something dreamed up around a boardroom table.

The name comes from Yantabulla, a small township in western NSW — an area that is very much part of both Ian and Kate’s story.

Both Ian & Kate are bush born and bred, growing up in the Yantabulla area and spending plenty of their younger years on the local tennis court 🎾. Long before there was a business, there were two country people shaped by small communities, hard work and the simple expectation that you helped out, had a go and got on with the job.

When you grow up hours from a major town and many of the services most people take for granted, you learn pretty quickly to think ahead. You learn to be proactive, resourceful and make do with what you have. When something goes wrong, you learn to solve the problem — because someone isn't coming down the road in half an hour to fix it for you. That builds a certain kind of strength and resilience. It also creates a genuineness that's pretty hard to manufacture — and those qualities have followed Ian and Kate into the way they run YANTA today.

These days Ian and Kate might spend more time on mine sites, in meetings, travelling between projects and occasionally even around a boardroom table than they do on those old tennis courts — but underneath it all, they’re still country people.

They value straight conversations, doing what you say you’ll do, solving problems rather than creating them, and building genuine relationships with clients, suppliers, their team and the communities they work in.

YANTA has grown. The team has grown. The capability has grown. And the projects have certainly grown. But the foundations haven't.

Strength. Resilience. Resourcefulness. Honesty. Genuine relationships.

So YANTA is much more than a company name. It’s a nod to where Ian and Kate came from, the communities that shaped them and the values they've carried from those little bush tennis courts into the business they lead today.

Think ahead. Find a way. Stay genuine.

One of the things we value most about doing business in Central Queensland is the people.

Yes, these events are about conversations, connections and opportunities — but sometimes it’s just nice to ditch the business shirt, catch up with mates, meet new people and have a laugh.

Business isn’t only about the work we do. It’s the people who make it happen and the genuine relationships we build along the way — within our industry and well beyond it.

Pretty proud to be part of the CQ business community.

Three years with YANTA — and Jake has covered some ground along the way. 👏

Starting as a Trades Assistant, Jake progressed to Operator and then HSE Advisor — while still being an absolute cracker on the gear. One of the things we value is giving our people the opportunity to develop, take on new challenges and build a career that plays to their strengths.

Remote sites, mine camps, motels, long drives, sketchy Wi-Fi and phone service… Jake just gets on with it.

Safety is always his priority, and his hands-on experience means he brings a practical approach to HSE. We can rely on him to keep our safety registers, QA packages, documentation and compliance requirements up to date and on spec — while making sure the crew goes home safely.

But Jake has never been one to worry too much about job titles. Tools, equipment or computer — if he can help, he will. He’ll jump on the gear, lend a hand on the tools, help admin and even dabble in tech support 💻. And whatever equipment he operates, you can guarantee he’ll look after it.

Usually based on our WA projects, Jake will soon be spending some time on the ground supporting our Queensland projects — finally getting to experience some of the Queensland we keep telling him about, while racking up a few frequent flyer points along the way. ✈️

Three years on, Jake is still the same bloke who rolls up his sleeves and gets on with whatever needs doing.

Happy 3 years with YANTA, Jake. Thanks for looking after our people, our equipment and each other.

Homeward bound... one fuel stop at a time! 🚛

After another successful project in Western Australia, our tipper—affectionately known around the office and site as "52"—has started the long journey back to Queensland.

The first major stop... the Nullarbor Roadhouse. ⛽

52 didn't seem too worried about the fuel bill... but we're pretty sure the driver had a slight wobble every time the bowser clicked over! 💸 Out there, diesel isn't just fuel—it's an investment.

From there it was across one of the world's most iconic stretches of road before stopping at Kimba – the halfway point across Australia. 🇦🇺

Not every truck gets the chance to see this much of the country. Wide open spaces, endless horizons, unforgettable sunrises, and enough kilometres to make the odometer wonder what it did wrong.

A huge thank you to our driver for sending us photos of 52's journey, we are looking forward to them both arriving safely. It's a long trip, but someone has to enjoy Australia's best office view.

Rockhampton... we're nearly there. 👋

There won't be much time for a well-earned rest though. As soon as 52 rolls back into Queensland, it'll get the YANTA treatment—a thorough clean, a full inspection, and be ready to head straight back to work. Around here, 52 doesn't get holidays... just another job to tackle. 💪🚛

How do you farewell someone who has been your admin extraordinaire, problem-solver, organiser, tech support, travel coordinator, reminder system… and, most importantly, Kate’s other brain?

Kim came to us as an employee, but somewhere between organising flights, chasing paperwork, fixing problems and keeping the rest of us functioning, she became family. Many work calls quickly morphed into long chats about absolutely anything but work.

She has supported our teams across Queensland and Western Australia for almost 3 years, kept countless moving parts under control and somehow managed to remember everything Kate forgot — which, let’s be honest, was practically a full-time role on its own. Even on the most hectic days at site she righted the ship and kept everyone on track with ease.

While Kim is leaving us, this is definitely not goodbye. Once you become part of the YANTA family, there is no formal resignation process from that position.

We are incredibly proud of her, excited for what comes next and absolutely heartbroken to lose such an important part of our team.

Thank you for everything, Kim. We will miss your humour, loyalty, calmness and organisational magic more than words can say.

Go enjoy the next chapter but just remember, Kate may still call when she forgets something or needs to verbalise something so it makes sense. 💚

Sitting quietly behind every successful project is someone making sure the finer details are right.

Our Executive Manager, Kate Mooring, brings extensive experience in business operations, finance, compliance, QA documentation, and project support. She is known for her accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering quality outcomes.

From tender submissions and contract administration to client communications and day-to-day operations, Kate understands that getting the details right makes all the difference.

Outside the office, you’ll often find Kate attending industry events, expanding her knowledge, building relationships, and bringing fresh ideas back to the business. She also balances family life with her professional responsibilities, proving that strong leadership is about both dedication and balance.

Despite working behind the scenes most of the time, those who know Kate know she’s definitely not the quiet one. She’s passionate, loves a chat, and isn’t afraid to ask the questions that lead to better outcomes.

While completing recent tenders, we reminded ourselves that supporting local isn't just a feel-good initiative—it's a practical way to strengthen the communities where we live and work.

Chosing local contractors isn't just about awarding a contract—it's about creating opportunities that flow throughout the entire community.

When businesses choose local suppliers and contractors, the benefits reach far beyond the project itself.

Local businesses employ local people. Those people then spend their wages at local cafés, supermarkets, servos, mechanics, tradies, retailers, and service providers. They sponsor sporting clubs, support schools, donate to community events, and create opportunities.

Collaboration plays an important role in what we do. We work alongside and utilise the expertise of other local businesses wherever we can, because no one business does everything. By collaborating, we create stronger project outcomes while helping other local businesses grow alongside us.

Last week, while delivering just one project, our team supported a bakery, a service station, a hardware store, two tool suppliers, an electrician, a hire business, a local transport provider, a supermarket, a gym and a boarding kennel.

None of those businesses were part of our contract—but every one of them benefited because work was happening in their community.

That's the ripple effect of choosing local.

We're proud to be a regional, family-owned business. We believe that when local capability, quality and value are available, supporting local isn't just good business—it's an investment in the communities we all call home.

Some people head to work with a coffee… ours catches a ride on a low loader. 🛻 ☕

Another YANTA excavator is on the move, heading to site before most alarm clocks have even gone off.

We love seeing our orange machines out doing what they do best—helping keep civil, mining and infrastructure projects moving safely and efficiently.

A big thanks to the transport crew GTS - Gardiner Transport Solutions for getting our machine there safely.

Yanta’s Executive Manager, Kate Mooring, had the pleasure of attending the RRR Women - Rural, Regional and Remote Women long lunch with friends over the weekend, and what a fantastic day it was.

One of the highlights for Kate was hearing the inspiring story behind Sandii Leitch . As someone who already loves and proudly wears the brand, learning about the resilience and purpose behind it made it even more meaningful.

Surrounded by so many incredible women from across regional, rural and remote Queensland, it was a day filled with connection, encouragement and shared experiences.

A huge congratulations to the organisers and volunteers for bringing together such a special event. We’re grateful to have been part of it.
