At Native Grace, we love Spring and can't wait for it to kick in! And, it is just around the corner 🌟Spring means lovely days to be outside, plus we will be receiving regular plant deliveries to keep us stocked up, not only on our old favourites but also lots of new and exciting varieties.

Now is a great time to start planning that new garden bed, or just a freshen up of existing gardens. We will receive the first of many deliveries this week and we can't wait to get them out onto the benches. The nursery is going to look amazing this weekend, so drop into have a look around and get inspired for your next garden plan🌿

We have a great range of vintage pots for sale in the nursery and we received another delivery just last week. These have been popular for customers renovating houses, many of who end up buying more than one. They also make great gifts for the gardener who likes something that is definitely not run of the mill.

We are well and truly into winter now and you may be wondering what you can be doing to look after your garden. Spending a bit of time now to get the mulch topped up on your gardens can be a good investment to help your plants through the summer heat.

Why? Soils are now holding a good level of moisture. Mulching will help to retain that moisture plus any water that gets added through rain or watering. Mulch also helps to suppress weeds. Plus...mulch encourages worms and insects in your soil providing a great food source for insect-eating birds.

The question is, why would you not mulch!

El Nino was coming and then we have this?

The ABC is reporting today that the unexpected spell of wet weather is due to a shift in the Southern Hemisphere winds. This is preventing the cool, dry Southern Ocean air from reaching us.

The end result is an increase in rainfall in some areas and has also helped to produce the warmest June weather on record for the east coast. This is bad for the snow bunnies as the Alpine slopes are still a beautiful green, well not so beautiful if you're waiting to hit the slopes!

For us non-skiing gardeners, it is a great time to plant if you are in frost-free areas. For our customers in colder areas, you can start making plans for Spring.

We can be pretty clear on one thing, the weather is becoming difficult to predict. We can expect extremes of temperatures and rainfalls and unprecedented weather patterns. At Native Grace, we believe that carefully chosen native plants are going to future proof your garden.
