Suss these creepy looking aliens 👽

These are Eucalyptus Sawfly Larvae, also known as Spitfires, on a small Southend Gum, planted just 2 years ago.
Earning the name 'Spitfires' due to their ability to sq**rt a strong smelling liquid of stored stored eucalyptus oils when threatened, they are an important part of the natural ecosystem.
They provide a food source for some birds, small mammals and other insects, increasing biodiversity in the local area. 🌱🐛

I had a Horticulture teacher who would always say "If it's a native bug on a native plant, leave them alone." She was right.
