On National Sorry Day 2022, Delivering 4 Customers (D4C) acknowledges the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Together, we reflect on the sad and painful stories of the Stolen Generations and acknowledge the ongoing grief and loss experienced by many individuals and families.

As a nation, we cannot begin to fix the problems of the present without accepting the mistakes of our past. Recognising the significance of May 26 is just one way we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation.

Delivering 4 Customers (D4C) staff working on the Sydney Water Reticulation Renewal Program were overwhelmed by the warm welcome they received upon starting work at an Inner West Street reticulation job.

The team were working on Barnsbury Grove in Dulwich Hill, where they were dished compliments, coffee and baked goods as a gesture of thank for their service.

"The water main had some age-related breaks that affected water services and pressure in some customers homes. After planning and testing we were able to replace the damaged portion of pipe to restore water pressure for residents," Mick said.

Reticulation jobs are essential works, but can be inconvenient to residents, so the project team did their best to get the job done quickly, keeping noise and dust to a minimum.

The team’s efforts didn't go unnoticed, and despite Mick insisting, the project crew were simply doing their job, the Barnsbury Grove community shared their gratitude with the workers.

"The extra effort that we were making was immediately appreciated. Occupants of the homes we were working by would always stop for a friendly chat and give us compliments,” he said.

“One resident brought us coffee every second day, while another brought out a loaf of freshly baked banana bread for the team.”

The project team have now moved onto the next site on the program and where they were also warmly welcomed, a resident sharing his Portuguese chicken recipe with the team.

Delivering 4 Customers (D4C) prides itself on our one-team attitude. With a diverse workforce of on-site and remote staff dispersed across the southern region of Greater Sydney, finding ways to regularly come together to connect is essential.

After a challenging 2021, our Construction Team had planned to start 2022 with a Construction Reinduction event at our Malabar site - centred around refreshing our Construction team members on critical procedural training and working safely and effectively.

Unfortunately, the Omicron variant had other plans. With the safety of our South Delivery Team, our Sydney Water colleagues and our customers always at the forefront of everything we do, we were forced to go back to the drawing board and adapt to the new restrictions.

Together, the team worked to transform the workplace learning sessions from face-to-face to virtual events conducted over . Despite the last-minute transition to a virtual format, our Construction Reinduction event took place last Thursday with great success.

Led through a series of interactive and practical training sessions, the Construction Team tested their knowledge and shared best practices for working safely and effectively. Nine sessions ran in total, incorporating virtual quizzes, videos, games, and group discussions to keep things engaging.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the day a success, particularly to our Construction Team participants who contributed to great discussions, asked loads of questions, and had some fun along the way.

Did you know that Sydney Water recycles around 49.8 million litres of water every day at their Wollongong Water Recycling Plant?

That’s enough to fill 20 Olympic sized swimming pools!

Wollongong Water Recycling Plant is just one of 30 water recycling and wastewater treatment plants in Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains and Illawarra that the South Delivery Team deliver design, construction, maintenance and facilities management services to.
