Building on a sloping block?

A sloping site doesn’t have to be a limitation. With thoughtful design, it can become one of your home’s best features.

Rather than fighting the land, we can design with the natural slope to maximise views, create interesting split-level or elevated living spaces, and carefully consider practical elements such as drainage and retaining.

Sometimes the trickiest blocks create the most interesting homes.

Got a challenging block? Let’s explore what’s possible.

The future of building materials is looking pretty incredible…

From translucent concrete and flexible stone, to woven linen wall panels, glowing birch and realistic brick finishes, designers around the world are finding completely new ways to add texture, light and character to residential and commercial spaces.

Some might seem a little futuristic, but today’s experimental materials often become tomorrow’s everyday design features.

Which one would you actually use in your home? 👇

Bricks, but not as you know them…

We love seeing traditional building materials used in unexpected ways.

The PGH Glazed brick range takes the humble brick and turns it into a real design feature, with bold colours and a reflective textured finish that can be used both inside and out.

Think feature walls, splashbacks, entryways or a pop of colour within an exterior façade.

It’s a great reminder that choosing your bricks doesn’t have to mean choosing between red, brown or grey!

Would you go bold with a feature brick like this, or keep things classic?

The Glazed range offers a striking selection of accent colours, perfect for indoor or outdoor features walls, or for those seeking to add character and flair to their overall design style.

Love your location, but not your home?

You don’t always need to move to get the home you’ve been dreaming of.

Whether you’re planning an extension, opening up your living spaces, adding extra bedrooms, or completely reimagining your home’s layout, a well-designed renovation can transform the way you live.

At JMK Building Designs, we work with homeowners to unlock the full potential of their existing homes—creating spaces that are more functional, better connected, and designed to suit your lifestyle today and into the future.

If you’re wondering “Can we make this house work for us?”, the answer might be yes.

Thinking about renovating or extending? Let’s chat about what’s possible.

Shipping containers... but make it luxury.

This incredible home near Joshua Tree National Park is made from a series of shipping containers arranged to create a stunning desert retreat. Proof that thinking outside the box (or inside the container! 😉) can produce something truly spectacular.

Would you spend a weekend here?
