Is machine tinting cheap? Well, not really. But when you or your operators are getting up to 60 hours a week protection for years on end it’s a justifiable purchase. A story about this immaculate 2017 VW Golf R.

The owner originally booked with us, but another shop could get it in sooner. Fair enough. We’re busy, and sometimes people try get in same day.

The day after its original booking with us, we got the message:

“Tony, I need to book my car in again please. The other guys stuffed it completely.”

So we had a look.

Burnt door trim.
Glue all over the driver’s glass.
Broken clips.
Bailey channels not fitted properly.
No tint AT ALL on the rear window.
Chunks of rear demister missing.
Gouges in almost every glass from incorrect blades.
Bottom felts soaked in dried glue.

And the tint itself?

Light gaps. Creases. Dirt. Dust. Bubbles. Peeling edges. Film catching when the windows were wound down.

Basically, the Golf R looks like it got a tint job from a YouTube tutorial.
The biggest kicker? They actually charged MORE than us.

We fixed what we could, replaced all the tint with SunTek CIR20 and gave the car the finish it deserved.

And honestly, this is exactly why we do things the way we do.

We aren’t the cheapest tint shop in town.

We’re not trying to be.

We’re also not going to pretend we’re a spotless laboratory. We’re humans doing a hands-on trade.

If our hand cuts weren’t perfect enough, Terrace Tinting is now the proud owner of a Summa cutting machine!

Over the next few months as we learn how to use it, we will start offering new services including custom tinting (tribal, flame, logos, business name etc) custom frosting (business name cut in, decorative slits etc) and also small signage jobs.

• Experienced tinter, or a keen junior looking to hone their skills.
• 4–6 days per week
• Must have a licence and own transport, or a genuine pathway to obtaining them.
• Pay based on experience and output.

Work will be primarily dealership tinting, with opportunities to work on trucks, machinery, homes, offices and other projects as well.
