It’s one thing to say that only a percentage of homes are compliant regarding minimum requirements in Victoria.
Here in NSW there is absolutely no requirement to have a functional safety switch installed in a dwelling before it can be rented. In fact there is no requirement to even have circuit breakers installed meaning that there are still- unbelievably in 2024- thousands of premises protected by old fashioned fuses which often have incorrectly, and dangerous, fuse wire fitted.
It’s hard to imagine why someone wouldn’t have safety switches installed- whether or not they are mandated.
Contact us today for a no obligation quote on to upgrade your installation.

Rental mystery shoppers went out to examine 100 properties. This is what they found.

We undertook a switchboard upgrade at a large home in Strathfield today.
Luckily for the family of 8 that lives there that includes 4 children the advice by us to upgrade was heeded as after testing we found that 5 out of 9 existing RCD’s (safety switches) WERE NOT WORKING PROVIDING NO PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROCUTION!
The electrical installation is less than 20 years old and the original owners decision to use cheap electrical products could have proved fatal!
All safety switches have a test button and it’s a simple process to test your devices at regular intervals (quarterly or preferably monthly).
If you are unsure of how to do this then contact your electrician to help and they can also provide a more thorough testing of your installation.

We fully endorse and applaud this initiative by the Victorian government.
There is no reason whatsoever why any home should be without the lifesaving benefit of a properly installed safety switch.
None!

Rental providers have just three more months to find another $1000-$1500 for a controversial forced upgrade.
