As President of Master Plumbers ACT, it was great to meet with Chris Steel MLA to discuss some of the key issues currently affecting Canberra’s plumbing industry.

Our discussion covered the ACT Government’s gas transition, recent policy changes and the impact these decisions are having on small plumbing businesses across the Territory.

We also raised serious industry concerns around unlicensed plumbers and companies undertaking plumbing work within the commercial sector, and the need for greater attention and enforcement in this area.

Another important issue discussed was the emergence of unethical operators targeting vulnerable and elderly Canberrans - using high-pressure sales tactics, unrealistic quotations and, in some cases, multiple business names or aliases.

Protecting consumers, supporting legitimate licensed businesses and maintaining high standards across our industry must remain a priority.

Master Plumbers ACT will continue advocating for our members and working with government to ensure these issues are heard and addressed.

Terry installed an Escea fireplace for this client and noticed a manufacturing issue that was easy to miss and even easier to leave alone.

He didn't. He flagged it, had it replaced, and made sure the job was done properly even when no one would have known the difference.

That's just how we operate. Honest, thorough, and always looking out for the people we work for.

Sometimes what's hiding underground is the tricky part. 🌳

We recently teamed up with the crew at Demetrius Projects to track down, expose and isolate a burst water pipe that had decided to hide itself right underneath a thriving tree. Not exactly the easiest access but that's where hydrovac excavation comes in.

Instead of going in with heavy machinery and risking damage to the surrounding area, hydrovac uses high pressure water and vacuum extraction to expose exactly what's underground cleanly and safely.

No unnecessary digging & no damage to the healthy tree.

It's the kind of method that makes a real difference on tricky jobs like this one and we love having the right people to call on when the situation needs it.

This little blockage didn’t stand a chance!

Our team quickly identified the issue, cleared the blockage, and ensured the associated costs were correctly attributed to the relevant authority, meaning our client wasn’t left out of pocket.

A bit of a fun one for the team ⛏️

We've been out laying sewer and stormwater for a Temple here in Canberra and it's been a great little project to get stuck into.

And of course, any excuse to get the excavator out and the team are happy. There's something about firing up the big machinery that puts a smile on everyone's face.

Proud to be working on something a little different at a special location for many in our community.
