Watson Young Architects was formed in 2004 by Colin Watson and Adrian Young, based on 18 years of professional experience gained in the industry.

Watson Young Architects is a responsive architectural practice, working collaboratively with our clients to deliver exceptional work, on brief, on time and on budget. The Australian Pharmaceutical Industries (API) facility in Jandakot, Western Australia, is now complete.

Designed by Watson Young Architects’ Perth team, this purpose-built 16,000sqm warehouse and office facility was designed to support the specialised demands of pharmaceutical logistics. Integrating temperature-controlled environments, secure storage areas and advanced automation systems, the facility has been designed to optimise operational efficiency and support the evolving needs of pharmaceutical
logistics.

Starbucks at Armstrong Creek Town Centre is now complete.

As one of the first completed stages of the emerging mixed-use precinct, and our second Starbucks design, the development introduces a new food and beverage destination along the main arterial connecting Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula.

Future stages designed by Watson Young Architects will bring additional dining, self-storage and a range of other uses to the centre.

A new generation of Partners helping shape the future of Watson Young.

We’re pleased to announce that Ben Waters, Giuseppe Palumbo, Rohit Jain, Song Kitcharayothin and Tas Tzoulis are now shareholders and Partners of Watson Young Architects.

This milestone reflects our long-term investment in the growth and sustainability of Watson Young, while recognising the significant contribution, leadership and commitment of each of our new Partners.

As part of this next chapter, Adrian Young will continue as Managing Director | Co-Founder, with Colin Watson as Design Director | Co-Founder.

As part of the VSBA KOSS Bundle 4, Watson Young Architects collaborated with the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC) to deliver a new kindergarten at Grovedale Primary School.

A key feature of the kindergarten is artwork by Wadawurrung artist Chloe Chatterton.

Chloe’s work is integrated throughout the building through acoustic panelling, perforated screens and sandblasted designs. Large circles represent yarning circles and meeting places, while flowing She-oak needles, linework and U-shapes represent the local community and shared journey. The story continues through the interior, celebrating connection, culture and community on Wadawurrung Country.

We thank Chloe for sharing her artwork and narrative, and for helping create a space for learning and inclusion.

Four new kindergartens across Victoria, delivered as part of the Victorian School Building Authority Kindergartens on School Sites (KOSS) Bundle 4.

Watson Young Architects has completed new facilities at Grovedale Primary School, Kennington Primary School, Horsham College and Gordon
Primary School.

Designed under a Design and Construct procurement model, the project established a modular design approach that created consistency across
the bundle while responding individually to each school site. Site-specific colour palettes and architectural entry screens give each kindergarten
its own identity, while clerestory windows introduce natural light throughout the learning environments.

The design also responded to the varied constraints of each location, from established school and pedestrian networks to challenging site
topography, while maintaining a consistent modular methodology across all four projects.

A great milestone for Free Form Mornington, with the project recently reaching handover.

Designed by Watson Young Architects for Gestalt Property and delivered by Corplex, the precinct brings together 37 flexible warehouse units, a café and landscaped communal spaces, creating a considered industrial development on the Mornington Peninsula.

Our team was pleased to join the project partners at the handover ceremony and celebrate the completion of a project shaped by strong collaboration from concept through to delivery.

Wodonga TAFE Student Services Hub, Building A, is now complete.

Designed by Watson Young Architects, the project transforms the existing building into a flexible, accessible and student-focused environment. The refreshed spaces support diverse learning styles through collaborative study areas, adaptable workspaces and open student services. Natural materials, greenery and filtered daylight create a welcoming atmosphere that enhances the student experience.

Walkinshaw Group’s new headquarters at Nexus Dandenong South is now complete.

Spanning 106,825sqm, the facility brings together custom-built warehousing, contemporary office spaces, extensive hardstand areas and dedicated vehicle staging zones. Walkinshaw’s distinctive brand identity is embedded throughout the design, from the chequered metal cladding to integrated logo elements and signature colours.

A significant milestone for Revesby Rise, with our team recently attending the sod turning event to mark the commencement of construction.

Designed for Gateway Capital, Revesby Rise will transform an ageing industrial asset into one of Australia’s largest multi-level logistics developments, delivering more than 54,000sqm of warehouse and office space in Sydney’s southwest.

We look forward to seeing the project continue to take shape as construction progresses.
