The Australian Institute of Architects today lends its full support to the City of Sydney’s Town Hall Square, a civic space first agreed in the 1980’s and now, at last, set to be delivered - fully funded, debt free, by the City. On behalf of the Institute, Kirby Rees, NSW Chapter Vice President, had the opportunity to attend a briefing on the project, held by Lord Mayor Clover Moore.

Designing built environments that genuinely respect and integrate with Country requires moving beyond theoretical frameworks to embrace meaningful, community-led action. This session will equip you with the practical guidance needed to foster authentic collaboration and integrate genuine stewardship into your firm's workflows.

Join the upcoming Living Design Series webinar, First Nations Guidance and Advocacy, to gain clear, actionable strategies to strengthen your engagement with First Nations Peoples and deliver more culturally responsive, place-based design outcomes. Co-chairs of the Institute’s First Nations Advisory Committee, Associate Professor Michael Mossman and Dr. Shaneen Fantin, will share essential insights through a case study of the Wrights Creek land care project on Yidinji Country and provide a comprehensive overview of Walk Together: Design Guided by Country, a major new engagement resource launching this August.
