✨ Celebrating 60 Years of Continuous Membership – Master Builders Victoria
This year, GR Carr Pty Ltd proudly marks 60 years of continuous membership with Master Builders Victoria, a milestone that speaks to generations of commitment, craftsmanship, and family dedication.

Our story began in 1961, when Gavin and Joan Carr took a courageous step and started their own building company. In those early days, Gavin was out on the tools while Joan managed the office, both working tirelessly to build not only a business but a future for their growing family.

Although Gavin and Joan are no longer with us, their legacy continues to guide everything we do. Today, the company is proudly operated by their children, and over the years has provided employment and opportunity for many members of the Carr family. What began as a small family business has grown into a company built on pride, honesty, and hard work.

We are honoured to stand alongside Master Builders Victoria for six decades, and we look forward to continuing the Carr family tradition of quality construction for many years to come.

Thank you to everyone—family, staff, clients, and the wider community—who has supported GR Carr Pty Ltd along the way. Here's to the next chapter. 🧡🏗️

It's great to see our work is opening up opportunities for everyone to enjoy beautiful Bridgewater Bay.

As the stage 2 upgrade works on the Cape Bridgewater foreshore continue, members of the public who haven't been able to enjoy - or experienced difficulties enjoying - everything the beach has to offer are now finding access a lot easier.
Jordan James is one such local resident - while Jordan has some mobility, he couldn't be walked down the steps or down the original ramps in the past.
But Jordan was out at Cape Bridgewater this week enjoying the beach, with his wheelchair being able to be taken down to the sand thanks to the upgrades, where disability access was a key consideration.
With the installation of Disability Discrimination Act compliant access ramps as part of stage 1 of this project, and the recently installed footpath and boardwalks, access is now much more inclusive.

The works will start next year so that Cape Bridgewater remains open, inviting and welcoming over the peak summer season.

🏆BILLY BUCHANAN - 30 YEARS OF SERVICE🏆

What better way to celebrate 30 years of service by telling your boss you're retiring on the same day?

Bill "Billy" Buchanan has amassed an incredible 30 years of service with GR Carr Pty Ltd starting back in 1992 when Tony Shaw captained Collingwood.

Billy's expertise lies in concrete finishing, having finished over 2000 slabs during his 30 years.

Billy won't be reminiscing the good old days when you would barrow in the sand and concrete, both tedious and backbreaking work (depending on how full the barrow was!). Billy's back has been eternally grateful for the modernisation of equipment such as excavators, remote-controlled mini bobcats, laser levels, and screeds.

Career highlights include working on the recent boardwalk and the windfarms.

Lowlights..."won't go there..."

On the road to retirement, Bill and Carmel will take on new roles as grey nomads as they hope to visit The Northern Territory and Western Australia and hanging out with his grandchildren (See previous post).

We would like to thank Billy for his dedication, commitment, loyalty, and friendship to the Carr family.

Congratulations on 30 years of service and best wishes for your retirement!

🔓Lee Breakwater Road is now open to vehicles just in time for a busy weekend.🔓

The Wombat Crossing has been completed and provides pedestrians with a safe passage from the bottom of the Edward Henty Landing Site stairs to the BBQ area at the main beach🧑‍🦽🚶‍♀️

❓️What is a Wombat Crossing?
It is an affectionate name given to a pedestrian (zebra🦓) crossing that is placed on a flat top road hump. Not only does this provides pedestrian crossing priority, but the raised platform gives further prominence to pedestrians and encourages motorists to slow down on approach to the crossing.
