We are proud to celebrate the achievements of our Fredon QLD Electrical team at the 2026 NECA QLD Excellence Awards.

Held in Brisbane, the awards recognise the outstanding individuals, teams, and businesses that continue to drive excellence across Queensland's electrical and communications industry.

Congratulations to our team on being recognised across three award categories:
Winners Voice/Data Communications & Audio Visual – Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre
Finalists Commercial X-Large Project – Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre
Finalists Work Health & Safety – Excellence in Action – Safe by Choice, Not by Chance WHS Slogan Initiative

The Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre project showcased the team's ability to successfully deliver a major electrical and communications package on one of Queensland's largest and most complex correctional infrastructure developments. From power distribution and communications systems through to testing, commissioning, and system integration, the project required exceptional collaboration, technical expertise and disciplined delivery.

We are equally proud to see the 'Safe by Choice, Not by Chance' initiative recognised. More than a slogan, the campaign empowered our people to take personal responsibility for safety while encouraging open conversations around accountability and mental health across the workplace.

These achievements reflect the dedication, professionalism, and commitment of everyone involved.

Congratulations to everyone on this well-deserved recognition.

We are proud to celebrate the achievements of our Fredon VIC Electrical team at the 2026 NECA VIC Excellence Awards.

Held in Melbourne, the awards ceremony celebrates excellence and innovation in the electrotechnology industry. Congratulations to our team on being recognised as the winners in Voice/Data Communications & Audio-Visual category for their outstanding work on the Frankston Hospital Redevelopment project

As one of Victoria's largest health infrastructure projects, the redevelopment required innovative, integrated technology solutions to support world-class patient care. Our team delivered the design, installation, testing and commissioning of complex AV systems, including operating theatres, medical imaging rooms, meeting spaces, IPTV and digital signage, seamlessly integrated with the hospital's ICT infrastructure.

This award recognises the expertise, collaboration and dedication of our team and project partners in delivering a future-ready healthcare facility.

Congratulations to everyone on this well-deserved recognition.

We are also proud to recognise Ginger Roberts, a fourth-year electrical apprentice with Fredon Victoria, who was named the winner of the Women in Energy Award.
Ginger has demonstrated exceptional technical capability throughout her apprenticeship, developing specialised skills in fibre optic splicing, commissioning and complex electrical works. Beyond her technical achievements, she has become a positive role model for other female apprentices, sharing her knowledge, supporting her peers and helping build confidence among women entering the electrical industry.

Fredon VIC Electrical also received a High Commendation in the Leaders in Diversity category.

Building Australia's Defence Future

Fredon CEO Scott Olsen recently joined Peter Anusas (Empower Advisory AUS/UK) and Gary Meaney (Lendlease) on the Building Australia's Defence Future panel at the ADM South Australian Defence Summit.

The discussion explored the opportunities and challenges facing Australia's Defence sector as it prepares to deliver AUKUS, including workforce capability, resilient supply chains, and the delivery of increasingly complex Defence infrastructure.

Drawing on Fredon's experience supporting the Defence sector, Scott shared the importance of involving contractors and suppliers early in the project lifecycle to improve planning, strengthen supply chain security, reduce risk, and deliver better outcomes.

With a long-standing relationship supporting Australia's Defence sector spanning decades, Fredon is proud to contribute to conversations that help shape the future of our industry.

This week marks National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June), an opportunity to reflect on our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and consider the role we each play in reconciliation.

This year’s theme, All In, is a reminder that reconciliation is a shared responsibility and an ongoing journey shaped by the actions we take every day.

During National Reconciliation Week, we’re proud to share that Fredon’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) has been formally approved by Reconciliation Australia.

This is an important milestone for our business and provides a framework to help strengthen relationships, build understanding, and create meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples over time.

Thank you to our RAP Working Group, Nick Luzar, Danielle Wilcock, Tina Eastman, Ian Montague, Shane Button, Lenny Beckett & Alex Beckett, for their collaboration and commitment in helping bring this together and establishing a strong foundation for the work ahead.

Fredon’s Reconciliation Action Plan features original artwork created by Aboriginal artist Lani Balzan of Aboriginal Art By Lani.

Fredon teams across Australia recently came together to support Cancer Council Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, raising more than $13,800 through events held nationwide.

From morning teas and raffles to fundraising initiatives and supplier-supported prize draws, it was fantastic to see so many of our people get involved for such an important cause.

Highlights included an incredible $10,486 raised by the VIC Electrical & Technology teams, $2,125 raised by the NSW team, along with strong support from WA, Air VIC and Sturdie SA.

A big thank you to everyone who organised, donated, baked, attended, and contributed, as well as our supplier partners who helped make these events possible.

Future-Proofing Fredon: The Push for 30%

The math is simple: our industry cannot solve the current skills shortage while overlooking 50% of the population. With female participation in skilled trades stalled at just 3%, the built environment is at a critical crossroads.
Last week at the Melbourne Convention Centre, a small group of the Fredon Air VIC team joined the inaugural Women Igniting Change event to tackle this challenge head-on. The team included: Anj Singh, Ashley Costa, Danny Simpson, Fiona Alveyn, Jeff Howell, Lara Rati, Pierce Holstrom & Piper Derek. This wasn’t a "tick-the-box" exercise, it was about securing the future of our workforce.

The 30×30 Objective
The centrepiece of the morning was the 30×30 Pledge. Our team added their names to the inaugural Pledge Wall, committing to their part in the industry-wide goal of reaching 30% female participation in technical roles by 2030. This is a deliberate shift from talk to tangible recruitment and retention targets.

High-Performance Insights
To move the needle, we need more than just good intentions. The team heard from leaders who have successfully broken the mould:
• Systemic Change: Insights from Dr Bronwyn King AO and Melinda Davis (EWIT) on dismantling the barriers that keep women out of trades.
• Elite Culture: Debbie Lee (AFL) on building high-performance environments where everyone, regardless of gender, can thrive.
• Trade to Boardroom: Pam Rogers (SP&R Group) on bridging the gap between technical expertise and strategic leadership.
• National Vision: A virtual address from Governor-General Sam Mostyn AC and safety leadership strategies from Michael Morgan (FRV).

Why This Matters for Fredon
A more diverse workforce brings better problem-solving, improved site culture, and a wider talent pool. By backing the 30×30 movement, we are ensuring we don't just react to industry changes, we lead them.

Practical Action. Proven Performance. A Stronger Fredon.

As a proud partner of the Queensland Reds, we asked players a simple question: if you were a tradie, what would you be and why?

At Fredon, we work across a wide range of trades every day and it’s easy to forget how many skills sit behind the scenes.

3rd Annual Data Centre Leaders’ Summit

Fredon recently participated as both an exhibitor and the official Networking Lunch sponsor at the 3rd Annual Data Centre Leaders’ Summit in Sydney, bringing together key industry leaders to explore the future of Australia’s digital infrastructure.

With demand accelerating and significant growth projected, the summit provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities across land, power, sustainability, and workforce.

A great opportunity to hear from industry experts, connect with peers, and be part of the conversation shaping the next generation of data centre development in Australia.
