Lots of old houses back in the day had putty glazed windows. This over time became brittle & rain would pe*****te behind creating constant dampness. The sashes started to rot but the frame remained solid. To combat this the timber was pulled out & replaced with aluminum... 🙈
Now heaps of these windows are looking drab with old aluminium so boom! Back to original timber!
