⭐ Meet the Team ⭐

We're excited to introduce the newest member of our team, Nam, who has joined us as an accountant. Nam brings a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective to our finance department.

Since joining the team last month, Nam has got her feet under the table and is fitting in great. She has integrated seamlessly into our CATS Culture, bringing positivity and great ideas. She has already simplified some processes to our daily operations.
Outside of work, Nam enjoys watching cooking videos. It's not just a hobby but a creative outlet for finding new recipes and modifying them to suit her taste. She's always eager to try new food combinations, which keeps her culinary adventures exciting. 👩‍🍳
To date, Nam's favourite part of working with CATS is the open-minded teamwork approach to kicking goals. She enjoys how our team continuously discusses ways to improve work efficiency without causing stress or overwhelming each other. 🙏

We're thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the amazing contributions she'll make to our team.

Announcement: Project Completion
RJV & Water Corporation – Yanchep Deep Sewer Pits.

CATS are delighted to announce the completion of our scope of work. This was to construct three, 6m deep insitu reinforced concrete Water Corporation sewer pits.

The scope activities included;
• Blinding
• Formwork design and install
• Scaffolding
• Waterproofing
• Steel fixing
• Concrete pours
• Confined space entry
• Securing of Carcass

The success of this project is owed to our hardworking and forward planning crew, efficient engineering support and the close working relationship with our valued client RJV.

Both girls have been smashing it out on site over the past few weeks. Running tight circuits in constrained and hard to get to areas, truly utilising every aspect of these versatile machines. Keep up the great work, Megan & Jenny! 👏

CATS have been showcasing our diverse skillset completing drainage works on METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Link 🚧

Works have involved temporary shoring, installation of drainage pipes, forming and concrete encasement of pipes, precast installation and insitu reinforced concrete works.

Well done to Bryan and the team on completing these works, all whilst safely maintaining site access and working around live services. 👏

CATS FRP crew have been hard at work on the Mitchell Freeway, constructing in-situ concrete barriers for protection of VMS Gantry’s and critical infrastructure for the Intelligent Freeways Alliance . 👷

The team have done a great job in meeting program, finding workable solutions and delivering high quality works, given the many constraints with working room and access.

Upfront planning and working closely with the project team are the main reasons for success.

Our Senior Project Engineer, Luke Chadwick, has been nominated for Engineer of the Year at the Civil Contractors Federation WA Industry and Training Awards, which will be held at Crown this Friday evening.

Luke joined the team almost five years ago, and we are so proud to see all of his hard work and achievements to date being recognised. Well done Luke, so well deserved! 👏

Our crew have been busy over the past few weeks at Yanchep with the construction of deep in-situ sewer pits.

These pits involve tasks such as installing complex formwork, steel fixing, and incrementally pouring the shaft all in a challenging work area and across multiple work fronts. Congratulations on the progress achieved so far! 👏

Our CATS Construction and CATS & Oaks JV team had the privilege of participating in a transformative cultural immersion session with The Spear Foundation this morning.

Our session explored and delved into the rich tapestry of history and heritage of the nation's first peoples and the lands on which we live and work. We learned about the enduring traditions, deep connection to the land, the importance of strengthening the cultural connections between generations, and reconciliation and respect.

We experienced storytelling, the heartbeat of indigenous culture, and the primary means of recording and passing on these traditions and experiences between generations.

Kings Park in Perth provided the perfect backdrop for this enlightening experience as it holds much cultural significance.

At CATS, we believe that understanding and embracing cultural diversity is not just a responsibility, but a powerful catalyst for growth and innovation. This experience has reinforced our commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace that values and celebrates the unique perspectives of all individuals.

We're thrilled to introduce Harry, our new Site Engineer! 🛠️

Harry brings a wealth of experience from the construction industry, having spent 7 years working on numerous large-scale projects across the UK before making the leap to Australia, where he eventually made his way to CATS.

Before getting his feet under the office desk, Harry spent some time out on the ground learning the ropes on the Slipform crew. 💪

Outside of work, Harry is an avid outdoors enthusiast, whether he's hitting the trails for a run, diving into the pool for a swim, or hitting the gym to stay active. And after a hard day's work, you can often find him socializing with friends over a refreshing beer. 🏃‍♂️🏊‍♂️🍺

As a devoted football (soccer) fan, Harry's heart belongs to Leeds United - despite all the heartache they may cause him!

CATS were engaged on the HWA last week to complete 2no. TL4 barriers for a total length of 185m near the Whitfords Rd on-ramp.

Swift mobilisation was required to ensure the tight deadlines on the project were met with half the barrier having to be completed on nightshift due to proximity to live traffic.

Well done to the team for making it happen on short turnaround! 👏

Adam's qualifications and expertise in Construction Management and Economics bring a fresh perspective to our projects. His experience spans across various sectors, including Road & Rail Infrastructure, Remediation, Maintenance, and Infrastructure Design.

Returning to the realm of civil construction, Adam is thoroughly enjoying being a part of the CATS team. His enthusiasm for the industry is contagious, and we're excited to have him contribute to our projects.

Adam's strengths lie in Contracts & Project Management, procurement, estimating, and tendering. His skill set is geared towards not only managing projects efficiently but also actively contributing to the growth of our business.

🚧 Project Update! 🚧

CATS have been busy up on the METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension project, working alongside NEWest Alliance precasting noise walls and drainage channels to assist the project in meeting tight deadlines.

Works so far have involved setting up the precast yard, completing the units, and handling their transport and installation. 🏗️

Well done to the crew on getting the works off to a good start and tackling daily challenges head on. 👏

🔨 Meet the Team Spotlight 🔨

This week, we're shining the spotlight on our talented carpenter, Rosario! 👋

Originally hailing from Italy, Rosario has been crafting his carpentry skills here in Australia for the past 9 years. Get this, Rosario is self-taught in English - how’s that for dedication! 📚

When he’s not working onsite, you can find Rosario embracing the great outdoors at the weekends, conquering the wilderness through camping and 4-wheel driving adventures.

Rosario's favourite project at CATS so far has been the Tonkin Gap Alliance Track Slabs, and he is enjoying the CATS environment with his fellow crew members.

With almost a year under his belt with our team, Rosario has seamlessly integrated into our company culture. His positive and fun energy make him an invaluable member of the CATS family. 🤝 In the words of his Supervisor, he is some craic! ☘️

Our FRP team has successfully finished crafting the initial set of 16 in-situ barriers, standing at 1.9m tall, for the Intelligent Freeways Alliance.

The first barrier, spanning 19m in length and gracefully curved to match the Reid Hwy ramp alignment, has been completed with impressive results.

Kudos to everyone who contributed to this achievement, and a big thank you to Hanson for supplying the concrete! 🚧👏

CATS Construction are proud to announce the award of the Concrete Barrier scope on the Smart Freeway Mitchell Southbound Reid to Vincent for the Intelligent Freeways Alliance.

The Smart Freeway Mitchell Southbound suite of works totaling over $200 million spans more than 30 km of freeway from Hester Avenue to Vincent Street with all 16 entry ramps to be modified with coordinated signals.

This project will feature smart technology that will improve the overall safety of motorists and will help alleviate congestion at peak times with upgrades including 23 overhead gantry signs to display speed reductions and lane closures, construction of an additional Southbound Lane, shared paths, safety barriers, emergency stopping lanes, and noise walls to name a few.

Our scope of works include;
· Construction of 3km of Slipform Concrete Barriers (915, 1070, & 1420)
· Associated in-situ concrete end treatments and transitions
· Construction of x16 1420 In-Situ concrete barriers for gantry footing protection.

CATS are looking forward to delivering these works safely, on time and to an exceptional standard of quality. 🙌

CATS are pleased to announce the award of upcoming works on the Water Corporation Yanchep Deep Sewer Main for valued client RJV.

This award comes from previous success, where CATS delivered the initial stage of the works for the same client.

The scope of works will include all formwork, reinforcement, concrete works, and scaffolding for the following elements;

- Base Slab & Pipe Encasement Walls
- Manhole Shafts up to 6 Metres High

We are looking forward to working together with the team at RJV to achieve successful delivery of the works and further strengthen our relationship.

The CATS team were busy this week on the banks of the Swan River for the Tonkin Gap Alliance Project. The crew mobilised at short notice to deliver works. The scope included;

- Concrete Slab construction
- Apron construction
- Install of precast box culvert units
- Concrete headwall construction

Meet Bryan, our Civils Supervisor 👋

Bryan joined the team early this year when he made the move to Perth from New Zealand. He has been a huge addition to the team, bringing years of drainage and civil experience.

His drive for productivity is complemented by his unwavering commitment to both Safety and Quality.
He is a leader who lives and breathes our CATS Culture!

When Bryan isn’t on site, he is keeping busy as a husband & also a father to 3 girls. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧
He also enjoys golf, fishing and anything motorsport related. Bryan started dirt track racing when he was 12 and moved into drifting after that for several years. 🏁

Bryan likes the diversity within the construction industry, delivering varied scopes.

We are all thrilled to have Bryan on our team 🧡

CATS have been engaged by NEWest Alliance to complete the installation of Humesceptor and Humeguard drainage structures on the METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Link project.

Work scope includes;
• Sheet piling to 12m
• Installation of temporary structural bracing
• Deep well dewatering
• Excavation to 7m
• Cranage and Precast installation
• Associated pipework and backfill.

Great effort by the team who are well into the staged excavation, preparing for the installation of the next level of bracing 👏

Introducing Barry, one of our Concreters here at CATS 👋

Since joining the team in 2022, Barry has shown to be a key member of our Slipform team.

Outside of work, Barry loves to travel and has conquered six of the seven continents around our planet, excluding Antarctica ❄️ He also has a bunch of hobbies to occupy his free time including keeping fit through sports, and supporting the Fremantle dockers 💜 Being a family man, Barry enjoys spending as much quality time as possible with his four children.

Barry’s favourite part of his role is his involvement in teamwork and problem-solving scenarios, along with providing quality work for the client.
