Love end of financial year tradie expos. Went to the Toolmart one on Sunday and came back with some great loot. Got to spin the chocolate wheel after my first $600 purchase and one 50% off with a voucher as my prize, so of course I went in any got a new site radio for the lads so they don’t take the p**s out of my old one.

Big job in North Perth. Exposed honed aggregate, sir Walter buffalo lawn, a new product(black powder coated edging), wires up for star jasmine and plenty of new plants to bring this garden to life. Even though you can’t see it a garden lighting system that is all run from your phone. New reticulation system installed by Terry Van Der Laan.

I keep saying I’m never going to do a limestone wall again yet 20 years later I’m still doing them. This one was great for the client. They had a solid wall barrier preventing them from going to the upper level of their property. After knocking out a section and putting in large steps you are drawn into seeing what is up there. A nice little fire pit and a great lawn. Not to mention the garden that will grow up and give them some privacy form the neighbours. Thanks to Carrots for his great work on the steps, VDL’s Home Handyman services for fixing the Retic and of course my workers Seb and Roy.

What do you do in an old school heat wave in the west? You do a decking job for a mate. Had to make a start on the job otherwise I t wont get done. The raised veggie beds are done. Still need to do the garden beds and lawn. Thanks to VDL for doing the Retic and Gaffo for helping with the deck. The client/mate ended up being a pretty good labourer. Silly him, I might use him on other jobs.

Got it done on a 36 degree day. Recycled red brick paving is a nightmare, none of them are the same size or thickness. Must say it came up pretty well. Dwarf magnolias, vibernum, snow maidens and star jasmine that will frame the window.

What do you do after finishing night shift on a 40 degree day, you lay lawn. First you drive down to serpentine to pick up the lawn, then you sit in peak hour traffic with the awesome Perth drivers, then you off load the lawn and get two trailer loads of landscape mix, spread it then lay the lawn. Reason is, I’m running out of days to finish the jobs I promised to clients before Christmas. Nothing a cold beer won’t fix later. Clients have been getting Reno’s for over 18 months so I thought I’d a least get them a little bit of green that the kids can play on. Better go and get some plants and mulch to finish it off. Thanks to VDL’s Home handyman services for installing a Bluetooth retic system that the clients can control from anywhere.

Clients needed a low maintenance front yard so they can potentially put a trampoline out the front. Cleared out the existing jungle and replaced with some nice fake turf, dwarf magnolias, vibernums, snow maidens and a feature blood orange tree.

Clients needed a bit more useable space around their pool. Knocked out the steps and repaired the wall, built a nice new deck and paved an unused area. Kids will now be able to enjoy the pool area, along with the parents as the sit on the raised deck sipping a cold drink.
