This week, the crew found themselves tackling one of our more unusual jobs — helping remove the beached whale from City Beach.

Contracted by Tonca Earthmoving for the Town of Cambridge, our job was to get this rather large passenger from the beach to a spot where it could be loaded and transported to Redhill Landfill.

And naturally, you don’t move a whale with your average bit of machinery… so we called in an 85T excavator from KLF Hire. 🏗️

Once the whale was in position, Urban Cranes and OSE Rigging took over the heavy lifting — quite literally — and loaded it into one of our trucks.

Then it was over to us to haul the big fella off to Redhill. 🚛🐋

Definitely not your everyday delivery, but when the job calls for a whale, you’ve got to be ready to go with the flow. 🌊

A massive thanks to everyone involved — Tonca Earthmoving, the Town of Cambridge, KLF Hire, Urban Cranes and OSE Rigging — for pulling together and getting this rather extraordinary job done safely and efficiently.

We’ve moved plenty of big loads over the years… But this one was certainly a bit of a blowout. 🐋💨😂

Byford Pump Track and Jumps by Common Ground Trails

It’s great to see projects like this come to life for the local community 👏

The new pump track and jump's at Briggs Park in Byford have been delivered by Common Ground Trails for the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, and we were proud to be involved along the way.

Our team assisted early in the project by removing the old asphalt hardstand, before supplying more than 3,100 tonnes of Recycled Roadbase. This recycled material was used to build up and shape the pump track and jumps, helping turn what was once a dead, (mulch storage), unused space into something genuinely exciting and active for the community. The track was later sealed as part of the final works.

One of the things we really value about working with Common Ground Trails is their ongoing commitment to sustainability. This is now the fourth or fifth pump track in a row where they’ve chosen recycled products over virgin materials - showing that you don’t have to compromise on quality, durability, or finish to do the right thing environmentally.

Alongside the track, Common Ground also oversaw the installation of a retaining wall by DC Retaining, built using Laterite retaining blocks supplied by WA Blockmakers. The wall is bold and eye-catching, while still feeling natural and connected to the local landscape - a great finishing touch that ties the whole space together.

The end result is an amazing new community feature that will be used and enjoyed by Byford locals and visitors for years to come. We’re proud to have played a small part in such a positive outcome and look forward to working with Common Ground Trails again on future projects.

Big Demolition, before and after 💪🏼🏬

Capital Recycling recently completed a challenging demolition at 97 South Perth Esplanade, right in the heart of a very busy stretch of road with buildings tight on both sides.

Despite the constraints, our awesome team delivered the project safely and efficiently, recycling over 1,000 cubic metres of material and keeping disruption to a minimum.

A big credit to our crew for navigating the tight access, traffic management, and neighbouring structures! Another challenging job done right.

Helping our community ♻⚒🚒🚧🏠🧯

Last Tuesday night, the Falcon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service used one of our upcoming demolition sites for a training exercise.

The team ran a practice based on a pretend 000 call to make it as real as possible, helping them improve how they respond to structure fires.

We were more than happy to help out and give the FVFRS a place to train under real-world conditions.

A big thanks to the Falcon crew for all the hard work you do keeping our community safe!

Let’s all do our bit to support our local fire brigades — they’re always there when we need them most.

Throwback Thursday 💥
Looking back at our demolition works at the old Mainfreight warehouse in Kewdale. This was a big project with some serious machinery in action, and our team delivered it safely and efficiently ✅.

Shout out to Chris and the Projects Team 👷‍♂️👏 for the effort that went into making this one run smoothly.

The site has since been transformed into the new Toyota Service Centre 🚗🔧 — great to see what came next after the dust settled.

📢 IMPORTANT NOTICE – WELSHPOOL YARD TIPPING CLOSURE

Heads up! 👷‍♂️ Our Briggs St Welshpool yard will be CLOSED for tipping only on Friday 18th & Saturday 19th July due to maintenance works. We are doing a major rebuild of the upper wheel wash, which requires us to close off access to the tipping area for these 2 days.

✅ Still open for product sales & pickups – so you can still grab your Roadbase, Fill Sand, and Drainage Aggregate as usual!
