Heathridge | Outdoor Living Transformation 🔥

Working closely with our clients, we set out to design and create a completely new outdoor living space that would transform the way they enjoy their home.

Starting with the removal of the existing patio and paving, we made way for a new raised skillion Solarspan patio, designed to increase the overall footprint while lifting the roof height to create a much larger, more open and inviting space.

To complete the transformation, we installed the ever popular Blackbutt composite decking by NewTechWood Australia, bringing warmth, texture and a premium finish to the entire area.

The result? A completely transformed outdoor living space that flows seamlessly from the kitchen and dining area, creating a natural extension of the home and the perfect place to entertain, relax and enjoy the outdoors all year round.

As construction continues, the sheer size and scale of this project is really starting to take shape.

Day by day, what was once an idea on paper is evolving into the finished outdoor living space our clients envisioned from the beginning.

At this stage, there is no room for guesswork. Every detail matters.

We work closely with our clients through every decision. from decking, cladding and the custom bench through to stonework, electrical, plumbing, fixtures and finishes. Each element needs to work together to create one complete, considered space.

This is exactly the type of project we specialise in at BL Carpentry Services, custom outdoor living spaces built around our clients, their home and the way they want to live.

As we move into the finishing stages, patience and attention to detail become even more important. This is where we slow things down, refine every finish and make sure the final result is something we are proud to put the BL Carpentry name behind.

Liam running us through a few of the small details that go into setting out a deck properly.

Before we fix a single board, we lay the boards out first This gives us the opportunity to adjust the spacing by 1–2mm where required and make sure we finish with a clean, balanced board rather than being left with an ugly 10–15mm rip at the end.

It might seem like a minor detail, and most people would never even notice it.

But that’s exactly the point.

At BL Carpentry Services, we’re constantly looking ahead and thinking about the finished result before the first board is fixed.

Dalkeith Project | Precision Setout 🔨

The setout on this project came with plenty of detail.

Board lengths, picture framing, steps, led strip lighting and overhangs all needed to be calculated before we could move forward. It’s a critical stage of any deck and you only get one opportunity to get the setout right, and everything that follows relies on those early decisions.

We also had to work through the best way to integrate and conceal the LED strip lighting so it became part of the design, rather than something added afterwards.

For us, every project is another opportunity to showcase the level of detail, planning and craftsmanship that goes into a BL Carpentry build, both to our existing clients and anyone seeing our work for the first time.

The deck is now complete, but we’re waiting on a few other elements of the project to be finished before we return to capture the final content.

This one is all about the details 🔥

A custom poolside water feature finished using NewTechWood castellation cladding, paired with decking boards that we individually cut and set out to create the hexagonal feature pattern on the right hand side.

Rather than keeping the entire wall the same, we wanted to create something completely custom, combining different profiles, textures and angles while keeping the colour palette consistent across the whole feature.

The waterfall, glass blocks and detailed cladding come together to create a real statement piece alongside the pool.

It’s projects like this that we love! taking standard materials and using them in a completely different way to create something unique for our clients.

TEAM RED 🔴 TEAM YELLOW 🟡 TEAM GREEN 🟢

There’s always plenty of debate when it comes to tool brands and the reality is, everyone will have a different opinion.

If your tools do what you need them to do, suit your trade and help you get the job done, then they’re the right tools for you.

For us, we choose and trust Milwaukee.

I’ve been using Milwaukee for well over 10 years now and they’ve served us extremely well. Like any brand, tools can have issues from time to time, but what matters to me is the support behind the product.

Whenever we’ve had a warranty issue, Milwaukee has been great to deal with repairing or replacing tools and helping us get back to work with minimal downtime.

The range also suits the work we do perfectly. Carpentry tools, roof plumbing tools, lasers, nail guns and plenty more all running across the same battery platform.

And having a battery nail gun without needing gas? That alone makes life on site a whole lot easier.

At the end of the day, each to their own.
