The process of installing the authentic wainscote paneling throughout the ground floor at the Hampton’s house
-
MDF rear panels are secured to the walls using T-55J and mitres on the external corners, then the beading is added for depth and contrast
-
To allow wainscoting to fully pop it’s important to achieve the definition in paint finish, plaster and MDF absorb paint in different ways which gives contrast to the final product.
-
Beading margins are worked out per wall keeping the margins around the panels the same which is important to maintain as that’s what the eye will pick
-
Beading is glued up flat to ensure tight mitres ready for paint and then the beads are secured to the MDF back board with PVA and C1 pins
-
Having a 9mm rear panel and 18mm skirting we designed skirting blocks to suit the transition between architraves and skirtings at the doorways.

Here are a few professional shots taken by of the Hampton’s house cut into the cliff over looking the Swan river.
-
Custom external post details, spindles and ballustrading all made on site including a pair of front entrance gates
-
Design pine from features heavily on this project available from it’s a product which allows us to create intricate features using stable timbers, some of the many advantages are a knott free H3 treated paint grade timber, which is easy to work with and machine both in site and in the joinery shop.
-
The landscaping for this project was completed by who have created a seamless transition from the alfresco to the grass and pool area, along with the densely planted from facade.

Here is a set of bifold doors we built and installed to a house in Innaloo, frame and doors all constructed from design pine from , window removed and LVL installed flooring trimmed back internally and locked up in 2 days.

Finally managed to get back and take a painted shot
-
Customer is extremely happy with the finished article, and all custom machined on site.

Pushing the application limits of my tools to maximise my efficiency while on site.
-
I’ve done this before and for sure I’ll do it again, as it’s proven time and time again to give those perfect cuts for the door seals
-
The Festool clamps work wonders in holding the rail at the latch end while packers (or my fingers) support the back edge.
-
Teamed with CTL36 means zero dust until the final breakout
-
The TS55 saw on the rails allows for extremely close margins allowing cuts within 12mm of the floor, note to do this you have to remove the splinter guard locating bolt and that it’s hard to get your brain, fingers and thumbs around the safety switch on this angle (all fingers and thumbs)
-
Not everyone will like this option for adjustment, but when the doors are paint finished this is an easy way to trim without removal and risk of damage!

Pairing the Makita Australia with the Festool using the makita guide rail adaptor.
These two are a perfect combo, in this video I’m re machining the tongues on floor boards to minimise waste, it’s also perfect for creating double tongued boards when the nosing detail is all groove

This is the Kiridashi knife that very kindly made for me, went to his workshop to select the materials used to custom make the knife
.
Obviously with my love of I chose green but paired it with my other love of orange and the colours work perfectly as a contrast to the turquoise stone and soft red in the brass pins
.
He also hand made the leather sheath which perfectly houses the blade.
This knife is a work of art and I’m so appreciative of how much times and effort has gone into forging it... 🙏🏽🔪👌🏽
.
I can’t wait to use it on my upcoming projects

Have a look at his YouTube video to see the process of making the Kiridashi knife (link in my bio)

Yesterday was the first day on site for she had a great time sliding around on the floor protection and getting lots of fuss from the customer and the guys on site.
-
She showed no interest or fear what so ever in the noises from the saw, dust extractor, compressor or nail guns shaping up to be a great work companion 🐾🦴👌🏽the only noises her ears prick up for is her treats packet 😂

Cladding the fireplace is all in the preparation.
.
Started from the centre and went back to back with the grooves I cut an MDF tongue on the table saw to glue them together
.
Staring from centre allowed for secret fixing of the boards and also setting the equal margins around the TV casing and to return as it wraps around the return.
.
Pics 2&3 show in more detailed the corner detail in both end view and top view.

Using the stand as an out feed for the CMS table saw while ripping skirting down to architrave, teamed with a 1mm packer upon installation to stop the roll caused by the rebate running along the back of the skirting.
.
The client has added a new door frame to the scope of works and we are just one side short.
.
This house is very close to us handing it over to the painters by the end of the week.

All that remains for this alfresco is for the internal trims to be fitted and the posts to be boxed and clad in cedar. It’s been a good couple of days on site with showing from Tafe how we transform piles of wood into things of beauty he’s experienced using some of the many tools we take for granted in our daily tasks and I’m sure over the next week he’ll learn plenty more, it’s been a tough week so far working our way around the many different job sites which are currently ongoing, hopefully 🤞🏽 next week will be calmer and I’ll be able to focus purely on teaching him some key skills for his promising Carpentry future...
