Busy week for the team completing multiple switchboard rebuilds & upgrades.
The existing home did not have any RCD safety switch protection on multiple circuits which could have resulted in a serious injury or worse.
All switchboards have now been brought up to current Australian standards with each circuit individually tested to ensure our clients safety to the highest level.

The previous units compressors had ceased & were beyond repair, while replacing the 2 x split systems we also removed additional outdoor units which had been left on the roof from previous installers.
Cables were also upgraded to the correct size & rewiring due to illegal installation initially.
The new units have more features, run more efficiently & have a sleek modern finish.

⛏️Ground works have started at our clients 8 acre property in Jurien Bay.
📸A 70 metre trench was prepared for the underground 3 phase consumer mains. Temporary power was installed to assist with other trades getting the site works started.

Recently our team has been fortunate enough to work in New Norcia, a town located 132km’s north of Perth. New Norcia is the only monastic town in Australia. Founded in 1847 by Spanish Benedictine Monks, the town has had many purposes but is now a place of spiritual retreat.
With most of the community being made up of buildings that were established in the early 1900’s, our team were very careful to carry out the required work in a way that preserved as much of the original design & architecture as possible.
The town welcomes visitors & is accessible for tours. We highly recommend a day trip to see some of the majestic chapels & monastery. There is so much history inside the walls and the community of New Norcia work very hard to restore & maintain the towns unique heritage.
Our team at DC Wired Electrical & Air Conditioning were welcomed into the community to undergo a complete rewire of what used to be an old court house, which required removing all existing VIR wiring in the heritage listed building.
Care & consideration has been taken to persevere the history & distinctive design.
Between 1910-1950 VIR wiring (Vulcanised Indian Rubber) was used throughout Australian homes, however VIR is a single insulated accessible open wiring system, which are no longer permitted in installations in Western Australia. VIR wiring breaks down over time and becomes extremely dangerous, causing electrical fires and putting household members at risk of electric shocks.
Early wiring standards did not require earthing conductors to be insulated. This once court house but now residential property, has been brought up to standard to comply with Australian Wiring Rules and now meets todays Australian Electrical Safety Standards and Regulations. Additional features added were smoke alarms, light switches, power points, ceiling fans, LED lights and other upgrades for sustainable living in this home.
Emergency Electrical Call Out Service 🚨⚡️
This week we had a concerning call from one of our clients, informing us that they were receiving shocks from the laundry taps & the washing machine in their home.
Our team attended the call out at 4:00pm to begin diagnosing the issues present. The team successfully diagnosed the issue & to our shock found 100v between neutral & earth!
Immediately our team temporarily isolated the effected circuit, until we could return at a time to complete a full switchboard upgrade to eliminate all the issues.
While undergoing the switchboard rebuild, 3 circuits with no earth connected to them were found!
If this issue had gone undetected or if the client had not made the urgent call when they did, this situation could have resulted in a extremely dangerous & devastating outcome, in the event that someone became in contact with these circuits.
