It's that time of year again! April 1 is the day designated for all households across the state to test smoke alarms, change batteries or replace broken devices. Here are our 4 tips to ensure your family and home are protected:

1️⃣ Test your smoke alarm(s) using the test/hush button.

2️⃣ Batteries should be replaced every 12 months. To check your batteries simply switch the mains power off and use the test/hush button. Just don’t forget to switch the mains power back on!

3️⃣ Dust and insects can cause smoke alarms to go off so take some time to clean the alarm by removing dust and insects.

4️⃣ Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years. So whilst you are checking it’s working, take a look at the date and make a mental note or better yet place a reminder for when it is due. If your alarm is 10 years or older, please contact an electrician to get it replaced.
