Meet Maria, our Managing Director.

She came to WA Marble & Granite as it's accountant. She was doing the bookkeeping, fell for the stone and the renovation side of it, and was eventually asked to come in as a partner. So she bought in.

What she talks about now is legacy. Leaving something her family can point at years from now and say that is what she built.

This is what happens after you sign off on your project.

Your slabs come in and get labelled to your job number, so what is on your quote is what gets cut.

The laser measure from your site goes into the water jet, which cuts to within half a millimetre of the finished size. From there it runs through the polishers for the glossy finish.

Then the boys butt the pieces together, it gets loaded onto an A-frame, onto the ute, and out to your place.

Meet Nino, our General Manager.

He sanded his first piece of stone at fourteen. His family owned a marble and granite company, so he grew up in the industry, went into the business after university and worked pretty much every job in the company before he inherited it.

He sold that company to a national group, left the industry for a couple of years, and came back to WAMG.

Here he runs operations, guides the team and handles the major tenders.

Marble, granite, engineered stone, porcelain. If the options have you stuck, that is the part we handle.

We sit down with you and match the stone to your cabinetry, your flooring, your style and your budget. Not whatever is easiest to install.

I'm Maria, and I own WA Marble & Granite. We have been family-owned since 1935, and we have installed over 80,000 kitchens and more than 150,000 vanities across Perth and WA.

We do every step in-house — selection, quoting, fabrication and installation — from our Malaga showroom.

Two things make a quote accurate.

1. Your plans

2. Knowing which material you are after

The material matters more than people expect. Stones sit in different tiers and the price moves with them, so it is usually our first question.

Once we have both, you will hear back from us within 24 hours. Either with the quote, or with the one thing we still need.

Nowhere near that stage yet? That is fine. Come in and we will walk you through the process.

Meet Jade. We built her home through WAM and added stone benchtops/splashbacks throughout her home.

Jade's ensuite is engineered stone in Calacatta.

Her kitchen is porcelain, because she wanted one big feature piece that could take a beating. Heat resistant enough to take a tray straight out of the oven, and hard enough that the bench is not precious about a knife.

We actually ran the grain of the benchtop into the splashback so it reads as one piece.

Then there is the scullery, which Maria designed and Jade calls her hidden secret.

Twenty-five years ago, stone in a kitchen was not a given. Now it is close to standard in any home at the upper end.

Karl has watched that shift from the inside. The demand moved from commercial to residential, and stone went from a specification to the thing people notice first.

A benchtop is usually the most prominent surface in a house, so there is nowhere to hide if it is not right.

That is where being family-owned actually counts.

One team, accountable from the design through to the install.

Here is who you actually deal with.

- Rose is your first point of contact, for selections and quoting.
- Jessica handles scheduling. She books your templating and your site measure.
- TK is there for the technical questions.

On a complicated job you will get a drawing from Jessica or TK to sign off before anything is cut.

Then it goes to production, Jessica calls you with an install date, and the installers come out.

Any questions about how the process runs, drop them below.

Most people walk in and cannot believe how many selections there are.

It is not just marble or granite. There are variations within every material, and the right one comes down to your space, your colour palette, how durable it needs to be and how easy you want it to be to clean.

That is a lot to weigh up on your own, which is the reason the showroom exists.

Come in, look at the options, and talk it through with someone who does this every day.

Bring your plans or your measurements and we can quote off what you have chosen.

Our story starts with a stonemason from Asiago, in the north of Italy.

Karl's grandfather came out to Australia on his own, his wife and children still back in Italy. He
worked in Sydney, and was about to be sent on to South Africa when he got to Perth and
decided he wasn't going any further.

He started quarrying in Glen Forrest instead, then bought a block on Scarborough Beach Road
in Osborne Park. The family still owns it. The business ran from there for the better part of forty
years before we moved to Malaga.

Karl's father and uncle took it on after his grandfather passed. It has been family-owned every
day since.
