Linkforce was privileged to participate in the Women in Mining and Resources Summit held in Perth this year. The theme for this year was Digging Deeper & Breaking Ground: Leading Tomorrow's Future.

Earlier this month, we marked NAIDOC Week with various activities at our Registered Training Organisation Workforce Training Centre, located in Kewdale on Whadjuk Noongar Country.

The theme of the event was - Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud and aimed to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This celebration included a smoking ceremony, storytelling and traditional foods.

We also revealed an art mural, completed by our ATSI Engagement Coordinator – Wayne Combo. This piece is a way of showing our respect for the land we work on in the Perth Metro area and our company values of People, Agility, Determination, Unity and Delivery.

Linkforce is happy to have joined the The Push-Up Challenge, collecting more than $8,500 in donations for the Push for Better Foundation. This foundation supports mental health awareness and engagement through connection, education, and fostering health and wellbeing.

The Linkforce community amassed a total of 92,467 push ups through the involvement of 11 teams. It was great to see that the challenge spread through our offices, workshops and sites, raising awareness across our operations.

More than 200 individuals have benefited from this pre-employment program, which focuses on providing unemployed jobseekers the technical and soft skills necessary for heavy industry employment.

Community engagement has been an important part of the growth of Linkforce since 2007 and continues to be a strategic lever and an important part of who we are. With this in mind, we are pleased to announce our continued partnership with the Lions Club of Victoria Park assisting them in their Computer Refurbishment Project. Linkforce has donated more than 100+ computers, monitors and accessories. Not only will this provide others with computer based opportunities, the reduction of e-waste fits within our environmental strategy.

Victoria Park Lions Club is a part of Lions Clubs International a global network with a noble mission to strengthen communities and extend support to those in need.

Last week as part of our NAIDOC week celebration, we are excited to share that Wayne Combo, our ATSI Engagement Coordinator, has crafted a unique piece "Dhiiyaan Gurrugurru." The phrase comes from Wayne’s traditional Kamilaroi/Gamilaroi language and translates to "Family, Everywhere Together."

"Dhiiyaan Gurrugurru" showcases the three regions where Linkforce operates, namely Perth, Goldfields, and The Pilbara, through their landscapes. It's a celebration of all things Linkforce and highlights the deep connections we have with these lands.

We are proud to have Wayne's talent as a part of this project, adding a unique touch to our transport fleet. Recently, Wayne also delivered a speech at our head office, sharing the creative process behind this piece.

Linkforce acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community.

Today is R U OK? Day.

This is a National Day of Action as we are reminded that every day we should check-in with each other and ask, ‘are you OK?’.

We have challenged all Linkforce teams to reflect on the importance of a conversation; be it with a friend, family member or a co-worker.

All Linkforce locations embraced this day with a wide range of activities aimed around conversations, personal commitments, listening and also following up.

Last week, members of our team had the privilege of joining another cohort of Mental Health First Aid Australia accredited first responders as part of our ongoing training partnership with Beyond All Bounds.

The training focuses on gaining skills and knowledge to effectively approach, listen, communicate and provide assistance to someone experiencing a mental health concern.

A huge thanks to Ben Getmore Broadbridge for facilitating the training, we look forward to the next Linkforce cohort.

Meet Neil,

Neil is a crucial part of operations at our Registered Training Organisation (RTO) WTC WA. We recently asked Neil to tell us about something exciting he has been a part of whilst working at WTC.

He had this to say: ‘We have just celebrated our 200th graduate through our Link2Opportunity program. This program has be extremely rewarding to me both professionally and personally. Meet Mark Heal, who joined Linkforce just over 18 months ago, as like many he was forced to adjust his working life due to the challenges of COVID-19. He traded his view from the pilot seat for that of the passenger flying to and from Perth working FIFO.

‘18 months ago I was flying over the North Pole flying a jet from Los Angeles to Hong Kong watching the Northern Lights light...The decision to leave the job I loved was hard but, in many ways, made easy knowing that I was doing the right thing for my family.'

Reflecting on his time with Linkforce, Mark said 'Mining brings together people from everywhere and everyone had a story to tell. Many of those stories got shared openly and honestly...The level of honesty, integrity and humility I witnessed amongst my colleagues was something I had never experienced in my working life. People genuinely cared and listened.'

As we transition back to what once was, we’d like to take a moment to congratulate Mark, who will now be returning to the skies as a Pilot. We wish Mark all the best in his future endeavours!
