Positioned within a refined Dalkeith streetscape, this landscape is designed to elevate the experience of arrival while working in quiet alignment with the home’s architecture. Structured as a layered garden system, low groundcovers establish a controlled base, allowing sculptural planting and mature feature trees to introduce height, rhythm and presence. Stepping paths guide movement with clarity, while crisp steel edging and restrained material transitions maintain a sense of order and precision throughout.

Planting is carefully composed to soften built edges and boundary conditions, creating privacy without compromising light or openness. Large-format planters and curated accents anchor key moments, adding depth and focal interest without visual excess.
Built for Perth conditions, the landscape integrates considered soil preparation, irrigation and plant selection to ensure long-term performance and ease of maintenance.

This Trigg residence explores a softened poolside environment where clean hardscape lines meet layered tropical planting, creating contrast without noise. Through early design resolution and 3D visualisation, each element is considered in context, from vertical screening and sculptural pots to the depth of planting that frames and defines each zone.

From alfresco dining to poolside lounging, the layout has been resolved to ensure movement feels intuitive and connected. By refining levels, materials and spatial relationships early, we’re able to align design intent with buildability, delivering a space that feels cohesive, functional and enduring.
A Perth garden that feels both grounded and transportive, where structure and softness work in quiet harmony.

For this Swanbourne courtyard project, the early renders explored how structure, planting and outdoor living could work together to transform a compact series of spaces into a layered and calming garden environment. Vertical greenery along the boundary walls was introduced to soften hard edges, while defined lawn areas and shaded patio spaces create a central place for everyday living outdoors. The design focused on building depth through planting, allowing the garden to feel immersive without overwhelming the courtyard scale.

As the project moved from concept to construction, the intention remained consistent. Climbing plants establish vertical texture along the walls, layered planting provides privacy and softness, and the lawn becomes a quiet open space framed by greenery and outdoor living zones. Over time, as the planting matures and fills in, the garden will continue to evolve, strengthening the sense of enclosure and calm that the original design envisioned. Landscape is never static. The real transformation happens as the garden grows, settles into its environment and becomes part of daily life.

The best outdoor spaces feel considered, where every element sits naturally within the garden. When planned well, features like a sauna feel like a natural part of the space rather than something added on later.

Planting helps soften the built elements, adds privacy and makes the area feel more relaxed and comfortable. Simple pathways and clear connections to the rest of the garden help everything flow, while layered planting creates a sense of enclosure without feeling closed in. When it’s all considered together, the space just works, easy to use, comfortable to be in, and a natural part of everyday outdoor living. Read the full blog via the link in bio.

A planting palette designed to work from every angle, with each layer playing a role in shaping the overall landscape. This composition shows how feature planting isn’t just one standout element but a series of moments, from the overhead canopy of Vitis vinifera casting filtered light across the pergola, to the structural presence of Pyrus Ussuriensis anchoring the space beyond. Screening through Viburnum Odoratissimum establishes privacy and consistency, while Trachelospermum Jasminoides softens built elements and introduces seasonal fragrance.

At ground level, Leucophyta brownii and Pittosporum ‘Miss Muffet’ provide tonal contrast and sculptural form, with Lomandra ‘Lime Tuff’ reinforcing durability and movement along edges. Each element is considered, contributing to a landscape that feels balanced, functional and enjoyable from every viewpoint.

An autumn moment in the outdoor space of this Leederville home, where the design has settled in and is now part of everyday living. The original idea was simple, a defined pool courtyard with a floating shade structure, consistent planting and an open, uncluttered layout. Now built, the space responds to the season. Softer light moves across the paving, the canopy provides gentle shade, and the pool edge has become a quiet spot to sit, pause and unwind.

A well-considered part of the home where the design continues to feel right as the seasons change.

At this South Perth apartment project, architecturally designed by and constructed by .homes , the landscape strategy focuses on softening the architectural footprint while introducing greenery that integrates the development into its urban setting. Structured planting wraps the perimeter of the site, creating a calm green edge that frames the building while improving outlook for residents and pedestrians alike.

At ground level, layered garden beds define entry points and circulation while maintaining a sense of openness along the streetscape. A carefully curated planting palette combines resilient native species with structured shrubs and feature trees to introduce texture, scale and seasonal change. The landscape continues upward through terrace and podium planting, ensuring greenery is experienced throughout the building rather than only at ground level.

By integrating landscape as part of the architectural composition rather than an afterthought, the development achieves a stronger connection to its surroundings, creating a place that feels both refined and human in scale.

The most memorable outdoor spaces rarely feel designed. They feel like they belong. Set within a semi-rural setting in Wandi, this landscape focuses on creating a pool courtyard that feels immersed within the surrounding bush environment while still functioning as a refined entertaining space.

The pool is positioned to capture long views across the lawn while maintaining a strong visual relationship with the garden beyond. Raised levels and subtle retaining establish structure, while layered planting softens edges and allows the landscape to feel lush and grounded. A pool house anchors the courtyard and provides a shaded retreat for gatherings, storage and everyday outdoor living. Around it, planting helps blend the architecture into the wider landscape, creating the sense that the outdoor spaces have always existed within the site.
Good landscape design does not compete with its setting. It strengthens the character of the place and makes outdoor living feel completely natural.

A garden should do more than frame a home. It should shape how the landscape unfolds as you move through it. At this Bassendean residence, the landscape is designed as a sequence of connected outdoor rooms that guide movement from arrival through to the pool courtyard and garden beyond. The driveway approach is framed by structured planting and statement trees, creating a strong sense of entry while setting the tone for the garden that follows.

Layered planting and sweeping lawn areas soften the architecture while informal pathways introduce moments of exploration throughout the garden. Seating spaces are carefully positioned within the landscape to create quiet places to pause, while the pool courtyard forms the central gathering zone for outdoor living.

By resolving levels, planting structure and circulation together, the garden connects the alfresco, pool and surrounding landscape into one cohesive outdoor environment that supports both entertaining and everyday family life.
