kW vs kWh โ what's the difference? ๐
If you're comparing home EV chargers, you've probably seen both terms, and it's easy to get them mixed up.
Here's the quick version:
โถ kW = charging speed โ how fast the power flows into your battery. A 7kW charger delivers 7 kilowatts of power per hour.
โถ kWh = charging amount โ how much energy you stored. A Tesla Model 3 might have a 60kWh battery.
Think of it like water: kW is the width of the tap (how fast it flows), kWh is the size of the bucket (how much it holds).
For most Perth homes, a standard 7kW charger tops up a typical EV overnight with room to spare โ the actual kWh your car needs depends on how far you drove that day.
