"The scheme officially kicks in at the start of the financial year, July 1, but it's designed so batteries can be purchased and installed now and are eligible when they are "switched on" in the new financial year."

With a new federal battery rebate on the horizon, many WA homeowners are asking the question: Should I wait to install a battery?

The Federal Labor Government has announced a major policy proposal to support battery storage across the country. Labor plans to subsidise up to one million home battery installations over the next five years, cutting the cost of battery systems by around $4,000 per household. Meanwhile, WA’s own rebate scheme is also due to launch in mid-2025 with even greater incentives.

WA Battery Rebates Are Coming – Up to $7,500 Available, don't miss out 🔋

The WA Government is rolling out a major rebate scheme to support household battery installations, starting by 1 July 2025.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a battery to your solar setup or going solar with storage, now’s the time to get ready.

🔋 What’s on offer?
- For Synergy customers: $500 per kWh, capped at $5,000
- For Horizon Power customers: $750 per kWh, capped at $7,500
Applies to batteries of at least 5kWh, up to a 10kWh maximum for the rebate
- No-interest loans of up to $10,000 also available to eligible low and middle income households

💡 The scheme covers new, additional, or replacement batteries — and solar panels if installed as part of a battery system. Systems must be Virtual Power Plant (VPP) ready, with internet connection and grid response capability.

🏡 One rebate per residential property (plus one more for landlords with long-term tenants). You must be a Synergy or Horizon Power customer.

⚠️ Important:
- Batteries installed before the scheme starts will not be eligible.
-The scheme will launch in rounds — with limited rebates available in each.
- It’s first in, best dressed, so getting your quotes sorted early is key.
