⚡ Powering the Territory’s future
What will it take to build a more secure, resilient and sustainable energy future for the Northern Territory? At the 15th Annual NT Major Projects Conference, John Gavin, Chief Bidding and Engineering Officer will join industry leaders for the ‘Powering the Territory’s Future’ panel, exploring the opportunities and challenges shaping the Territory’s energy landscape.

From renewables and energy storage to gas, transmission infrastructure and energy security, the discussion will consider how the right investment, infrastructure and collaboration can help unlock the Northern Territory’s potential.

🌉 Connecting communities with the Yarra Link green bridge!

The Spark North East Link team continues to advance works at the Bulleen Road site, with foundations taking shape for the Yarra Link green bridge, a key feature that will enhance connectivity for the local community and environment.

Hear from Senior Project Engineer Mitchell White as he shares an update on the latest construction campaign in Bulleen.

The works include installing:
▪️ 16 box girders
▪️ 8 I-shaped girders
▪️ Up to 100 transfloor panels

Once completed, the Yarra Link green bridge will connect the Koonung Creek Trail to Bulleen Park, creating two hectares of new parkland, walking paths and green open space for the community to enjoy.

Webuild, as part of the Spark Joint Venture, is delivering North East Link. The project will take up to 15,000 trucks off local roads every day and reduce travel times by up to 35 minutes for commuters. Once complete, it will be the longest road tunnel in Victoria.

Major progress on Suburban Rail Loop East!
The Terra Verde Joint Venture team has successfully completed piling works at Glen Waverley! The team installed 268 piles:
▪️ Each ranging 1,050mm – 1,180mm in diameter
▪️ Depths ranging from 16m to 34m
▪️ Overall, 6,200m³ of concrete was used

The team has since moved on to capping beam construction and commissioning of the permanent water treatment plant.

At Mount Waverley, the second row of ground anchors has been completed, while the acoustic shed frame and roof have been successfully installed, incorporating 170 tonnes of steel. Excavation continues to progress well, reaching 8.7m below the capping beam, alongside ongoing ground anchor installation.

Webuild, as part of the Terra Verde Joint Venture, is delivering almost 10 kilometres of parallel tunnels between the future Box Hill and Glen Waverley stations, along with 39 cross passages, two station boxes, two TBM launch sites, and an intervention and ventilation shaft for the Suburban Rail Loop East Project.

🏗️ 570 tonnes. One custom-built lifting solution. More than a year of engineering.
As the Terra Verde Joint Venture team prepared for tunnelling on Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East, the shields of its first two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) took to their places thanks to a unique heavy-lift solution engineered specifically for the Burwood site.

Using a custom strand jack heavy lift gantry, the 570-tonne TBM shields were carefully lifted and lowered into position, while other critical site infrastructure was being constructed around them. The approach meant the acoustic shed and conveyor system could be built concurrently with TBM assembly, helping maximise site efficiency and keep preparations for tunnelling moving.

Behind these lifts was more than a year of detailed engineering, planning and collaboration, bringing together the expertise needed to safely deliver one of the most critical stages of SRL East.

Meet Tahlissa, School-Based Trainee with Webuild!
A proud Yamatji and Noongar woman, Tahlissa joined us while completing Year 11 and has embraced every opportunity to learn, grow and build her confidence in a professional workplace.

Now on the verge of graduating Year 12, she has completed her Certificate II in Workplace Skills, AIM’s Networking for Success course, and gained valuable hands-on experience supporting our HR team.
