We did it! What a fantastic day we had we an awesome group. Everyone made their own 2L ferrous indigo stock and they had the chance to dye their fabrics in my ferrous and fructose indigo vats. Btw, love the cap Josh 😂.

Next session is on Thursday 15th October. As always, my workshops at my studio are kept small ☺️.

Transform a plain T-shirt into a unique work of wearable art.

Ecodyed T-shirts Workshop
Learn a simple process of dyeing and printing your cotton t-shirts with locally gathered native plants and common kitchen waste ingredients. Textile artist, Annette Wiguna, will show you a fast mordanting process that will impart rich and washfast earthy colours. Your t-shirts must be thoroughly washed beforehand.

Yesterday a fellow artist and friend Junko Kitamura generously shared her expertise with me after she attended my one-on-one encaustics photographic transfer workshop. She kindly and patiently demonstrated the process of dry point and collagraph printing. I was thrilled that I got to use my fibre work remnants that I’ve been holding on to for over 15 years. Glad they finally became useful! I am absolutely blown away by the result and can’t wait to take this further in my own practice 🙏.

Yesterday I opened the indigo workshop registration to those on my mailing list and all spots are taken within an hour! It makes me happy to know there are passionate dyers out there wanting to embrace natural colours. Organising a session on the weekend is getting trickier now so I’m looking at opening another session during the week if there’s enough interest. Pls dm me with your EOI.
