Filling in on Curtin Radio Let's Talk Gardening tomorrow (Saturday) from 8am to 10am as host Faye Arcaro is unwell. Raye Burton and I will be taking calls and answering gardening questions. We've got some great guests phoning in to speak about salts in the garden and creating bird friendly gardens. I am keen to chat about some good trees to block our neighbours too. Plant in photo is Thomasia, one of the best native plants for shady spots, though it also grows in the sun.

Today at 11.15 I'm at the Kalamunda Garden Festival sharing my talk 'Tips and Tricks to Make Gardening Easier'. I'm speaking in the Green Life Soil Company tent. The talk encapsulates all my gardening experience and I talk about (honestly, no sponsorship bias) the products that I think are the best. The Kalamunda Garden Festival is fabulous - lots of small growers selling plants. Don't miss it!!

It’s time to walk on the wild side! Western Australia is home to more than 12,000 wildflower species, and from June to November, different regions take turns to burst into bloom. In this pic, a sea of pink everlastings (Schoenia cassiniana) covers the red earth near Morawa, in WA’s Mid West region, north of Perth. Want to see the wildflowers for yourself? In the September issue, Deryn Thorpe provides insights on where and when to visit during wildflower season. Get your copy now!
