There’s just something about a rammed earth home that we love.
They’ve got that solid, earthy feel that seems perfectly at home in the Australian landscape — and every wall has its own unique colour, texture and character.
Rammed earth walls are constructed by placing a carefully prepared mixture of soil, sand and aggregates into formwork, then compacting it down in layers. The process is repeated until a thick, incredibly solid wall is formed, with the layers of compaction creating that distinctive natural look.
Once the formwork comes off, the wall itself becomes the finished feature — no plasterboard hiding it, just the raw beauty of the earth it was built from.
They’re solid, durable, have plenty of thermal mass and, when designed properly, can help keep indoor temperatures more stable throughout the day.
Simple materials. Serious craftsmanship. And a home that genuinely looks like it belongs on the land.
