Some good advice on Gall Wasps

Noticed swollen lumps on your citrus trees? 🍋🧐 These are galls created by the citrus gall wasp when it lays eggs inside the wood. Galls may begin appearing as early as February and will be easily detectable by June. Here's what you need to know:

✂Prune out all galls before 30 June to avoid the need to treat before disposal. The larvae inside the galls will not survive when pruned now, and pruned material can go into green waste.

✂After 30 June, you will need to treat any new galls that you prune by solarising, shredding or burning.

✂No need to prune out old galls (they will have holes in them) as the adults have already emerged.

📅 Mark it in your calendar: spring is the best time to spray your citrus with Kaolin clay (a natural clay that deters citrus gall wasps from laying their eggs). We sell a couple of Kaolin clay products in store.

It has taken many years for this particular peach tree to produce a decent crop. But finally enjoying the fruits of my labour 🍑😋
Once it has completely finished fruiting it will be time for another prune. 🪚

Eat this instead...

Common Purslane or Portulaca oleracea
is not only edible but extremely nutritious.

A good substitute for spinach, watercress or rocket. It has a tangy yet refreshing flavour.

It is regarded as a superfood and often used in fancy restaurants as a garnish.

It is packed with Vitamins A, C, E, calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron as well as high amounts of Omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Also a natural remedy for insomnia.

If you want your lawns and garden to survive and thrive this Summer, a decent wetting agent (not from Bunnings) is a must!

It will ensure the precious water you're applying is actually penetrating the soil and not running off. ✌️💧🌿🌸

Also Queen Annes Lace is such a magnet for all sorts of beneficial critters. If anyone wants any seeds, hit me up..(I will probably chuck some in your garden anyway 🤭)
