Termites under a bathtub in an old 1950’s house. Took a bit of a crawl but we found the entry point and can now treat appropriately.

Ecopest WA is a unique company in the pest control industry in that they provide cutting edge and ecofriendly pest solutions at very competitive prices. My name is Bernard Davey, I have been involved in the pest management industry for almost a decade. I started in the Pilbara in January of 2006 working as a provisional technician for Gas City Pest Control. By 2007 I was fully licenced and by 2009
I was a Senior Technician. We handled most of the work in the Pilbara region including Shopping Centres, Hospitals, Restaurants, ship yards and cargo….. Pubs, Mine Sites, Real Estate work as well as domestic properties. From 2010 until 2012 I was the lead technician on the Pluto LNG project and the Woodside Gas Plant responsible for pest and w**d management and quarantine. The LNG and mine site work also bred a culture of safety and quality management that stays with me today. Working in the North West was great in the fact there are so many insects! In one week’s work up north you would get more experience (with Termites especially) in recognising and treating pests than most Perth based technicians would get in 6 Months. So in 2012 with my first child expected my partner and I moved back to Perth. Jim’s company handled several state government contracts and we provided pest control to schools and police stations south of the river. He is one of the only Cert IV’s in pest management in Australia and expert in snakes and pigeons. Under Jim I got certified in snake removal and learnt how to bird proof buildings and trap pigeons. With Jims impending retirement I decided it was time to go out on my own. So on the 22nd of July 2014 I formed Ecopest WA. My goal is to provide Perth with a better option when it comes to pest management. By embracing emerging technologies and providing prompt customer service we hope to help you for years to come.

Some active termites we found in a roofspace during a timber pest inspection. Some serious damage had been caused to the roof structure and a full termite barrier was required.
Over the last couple of weeks we’ve been setting up a comprehensive termite management plan on a rural property. The farmhouse was surrounded by a huge jarrah verandah. We treated underneath the decking with non-toxic Altriset to protect the house.
We then set up in ground termite monitoring stations in the yards and a couple of above ground termite bait stations on trees with obvious termite activity.
We can now monitor activity quarterly and treat as required without any nasty poisons.
A massive termite nest we found under the floorboards 😮 Some damage was found in the room above but the room had no access underneath. We had to cut a hole in the floor to be able to treat it correctly.
February 2015
How time flies, we had only been operational for a few months then. A new born baby and a lot of uncertainty. I had more hair then and not as many greys 🤣. Evie’s in year 5 of primary school now and the business is going great.
Very thankful for everyone who supports us and all our regulars.

A bit of pre-construction work this morning. These homeguard collars protect the house for up to 50 years from termite attack. If you are doing extensions or renovations give us a call to discuss your options.
Not a bad view this morning
This is a bear a pest controller found in a subfloor on a standard termite inspection (under someone’s floorboards) in Canada 😮 😱. Worst we get in Western Australia is a Rat, Lizard or a worst case sleepy 🐍 . Scary stuff.

As the cold weather kicks in Rats 🐀 and Mice 🐁 are looking for a warm place to live. Unfortunately this is often into our homes and roofs which can result in damages to Air Conditioners, plumbing and electrical wiring. It can also create an unhygienic environment to live in.
Ecopest Wa offers rodent solutions which are safe for pets, native wildlife (no secondary poisoning) and people.
If you are hearing scratching in the ceiling or seeing droppings in the kitchen cupboards then contact us on 0488661327 or through our FB page to make a booking.

Happy to help 😊
🧹☀️THANK YOU! ☀️🧹
We have had many volunteers pitch in over the last few months to clean up out P&C shed. Volunteers removed hard rubbish for collection, EcoPest wa came by to move the unwanted guests along as a very kind donation, and more volunteers this morning cleaned and organised the P&C Shed. Amazing work everyone! Thank you so much for your time and determination. It looks amazing!!
Termites we found in a bathroom doorframe during an annual inspection. We then installed a full barrier treatment to kill the nest and protect the house from future termite attack for up to 10 years.

Black house spider- probably the most common spider in the Perth metro area. They in particular love the new housing estates. Colorbond fencing and garden sheds are their favourite spots. High numbers encourage White Tail Spiders to the property as BH spiders are their preferred food source.
The Black House Spider is a dark robust spider, with grey hairs sometimes visible on the carapace. Females are larger than males but there is a great range in adult sizes. The web structure includes one or more 'funnel-like' entrances to the spider’s retreat, which is sometimes misunderstood as a Funnel-web Spider web.
Black House Spiders are timid animals and bites from them are infrequent. The bite may be quite painful and cause local swelling. Symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, sweating and giddiness are occasionally recorded. In a few cases skin lesions have developed after multiple bites. A cold pack may relieve local pain. Seek medical attention if symptoms persist.
Contact Bernie on 0488661327 or pm our page for additional information on spider treatments.
Redback Spider- Female Redback Spiders are black (occasionally brownish) with an obvious orange to red longitudinal stripe on the upper abdomen, with the red stripe sometimes being broken, and an "hourglass" shaped red/orange spot on the underside of the abdomen. The males' red markings are often less distinct. The body is light brown with white markings on the upper side of the abdomen, and a pale hour-glass marking on the underside.
Redback bites occur frequently, particularly over the summer months. More than 250 cases receive antivenom each year, with several milder envenomations probably going unreported. Only the female bite is dangerous. They can cause serious illness and have caused deaths. However, since Redback Spiders rarely leave their webs, humans are not likely to be bitten unless a body part such as a hand is put directly into the web. So be careful reaching under outdoor furniture, moving pot plants etc…and look out for messy webbing.

We are going to offer a bit of info on Perth spiders going into spring. We are predicting quite a bad spider season due to all the rain…increasing food sources for spiders.
White-tailed spiders are spiders native to southern and western Australia and so named because of the whitish tips at the end of their abdomens.
White-tailed spiders are vagrant hunters that seek out and envenom prey rather than spinning a web to capture it; their preferred prey is other spiders. This is why when you have a large number of spiders on your property (especially Black House Spiders) you may begin to see White tails. Unfortunately they do like getting in awkward spots like towels and linen which is when most bites occur.

Termites found in floorboards behind a couch. A leaking air conditioner in the garden bed outside created the perfect breeding ground for a termite nest. Luckily for the owners we found them before they made it to the roof.
Nice to have a little break with the family over Easter.
Back to reality tomorrow everyone…🕷🐜🐀🦟🪳

This is a video from a cockroach treatment on a property that the tenants had been evicted from today. I’m not sure in 12 years of pest control I’d ever seen so many cockroaches in one spot 😱😱😱
Cockroaches can’t resist our gel 👀👀 No nasty sprays and all cockroaches will be eliminated within a week of the treatment👊🏻
A whitetail spider I spotted during a routine inspection. Whitetails are roaming spiders similar to the Huntsmen. They have a habit of hiding in linen and towels which often results in people getting bitten. Bites vary from person to person as some people only get a small itchy lump while others get large blister like wounds.
Treating termites inside floorboards using Termidor Foam. It’s not often you can see the termites from the outside so this was pretty cool. The foam will get carried back to the termites nest and kill the whole colony.
If your building your own decking, spend the extra $$$ to use treated timber. It only ends up costing you more when the termites move in.
Installing an Altriset termite barrier yesterday. Altriset is a non toxic and poison free alternative to standard termite treatments which have been linked to bee depletion and adverse health problems. Designed to last for 5 years. It’s a great option and eliminates the entire nest and the only thing it effects is termites👊🏻 Give us a call on 0488661327 or pm us for an obligation free quote
