Although Merbau decking is very stable, it has a natural, oily-rich tannin that may leach if not prevented by a tannin-blocker sealer. It is advisable to pre-wash Merbau boards before installation and before sealing with a hydrophobic sealer. This is even more important if installed as a pool deck or around limestone.

Their existing pool decking consisted of a very unsafe 1st generation composite deck, poorly built and unsuitable for residential use due to structural failure. It was estimated that the previous composite deck had only been in service for 8 years. 📸 On first arrival at Ken and Maxine’s property, Paul encountered a west facing, low hanging, over grown veranda with exposed septic tanks on a terraced lawn. As it was, the space was unliveable and uninviting. The owners however had visions of turning this area into a practical space that they could utilise for entertaining their family for many years ahead. 😍 WA Timber Decking custom designed and built a large 125m² elevated Merbau deck with an 85m² skillion roof to provide a real lifestyle change for the owners. This resulted in a really practical space. A large bi-fold door was installed to make the newly renovated kitchen part of the new outdoor entertaining area.
