🎉 The Terraces - New Strata Titles Issued 🎉

The Terraces is an exceptionally luxurious mixed-use development comprising seven stacked villas and a commercial component on the ground floor.

Positioned on the South Perth foreshore, the development enjoys spectacular views across the Swan River and a remarkable vantage point overlooking the entire Perth city skyline.

Following completion of build, we were engaged by the owners to manage the strata titling process and coordinate the relevant consultants required to bring it to completion. This involved navigating the technical and administrative requirements associated with a complex mixed-use development.

Designed by Woods Bagot, The Terraces reimagines the classic South Perth circa 1960 brick villa and garden through layered architecture, refined materials and beautifully landscaped terraces.

It was a an absolute privilege to contribute to such a distinctive development in Perth alongside the happy clients and amazing project team.

National Surveying Congress 2026

It was a privilege to represent the Western Australian Institution of Surveyors (WAIS) - Surveyors WA at the 2026 Surveying Congress at Hamilton Island last week alongside fellow WAIS Board Member Bennett Tunbridge.

This year’s Congress featured a strong focus on business thinking and artificial intelligence with valuable discussions about how these areas are shaping the future of the surveying profession.

It was also great to see Bennett contribute to the Engineering Surveying Certification Panel discussion. WAIS’ Certified Practising Surveyor (Engineering) or CPS (Eng) program is well established in Western Australia.

Through continued collaboration with Surveyors Australia, we are exploring a practical bridging pathway that could enable our CPS (Eng) members to also gain national certification.

I was also pleased to once again participate in the annual Combined Boards Meeting. This provided an important opportunity to strengthen relationships between surveying member organisations across Australia and discuss matters of national importance to the surveying profession.

Congratulations to the Surveyors Australia team on delivering another engaging and well organised Congress. It was a valuable few days of learning, collaboration and connection with friends and colleagues from across the country (and a few of our friends from New Zealand too 😉)

📣 Calling all Surveying Students! 📣

Join us for a relaxed afternoon at the Windsor Hotel in South Perth. This will be a great chance to meet other surveying students from Curtin University and TAFE, swap stories and connect with the Western Australian Institution of Surveyors (WAIS) - Surveyors WA community.

Students will have the chance to catch up with surveying professionals and industry leaders, build valuable connections and gain insights into the profession.

We are here to support you on your journey to becoming a qualified surveyor, and we would love to see both students and WAIS members come together for a night of networking over some great food and drinks.

Whether you are just starting out or already deep into your surveying studies journey, this is your chance to build connections that last.

Sometimes, a photo of a vacant lot is much more than it seems. 👀

At first glance, it may look like an ordinary cleared site, with a bobcat preparing the land and construction about to begin.

But for our client, this photo represents the start of building their dream family home after a long and challenging journey.

This property formed part of an older pre-1998 strata title scheme and required a conversion to survey strata so the lot could become a land-based title. What should have been a practical process became far more complicated, with the client caught between demolition approvals, development approvals and strata conversion requirements.

Red tape at its best. 🙄

Nevertheless, we kept pushing through the process, working through the conversion, development approval and each hurdle until the matter was resolved.

Receiving this photo from the client with the message, “We are underway mate”, was incredibly rewarding.

A great reminder that behind every lot, title and approval, there is often a much bigger story.

Wishing our client all the very best as they begin construction of their family home. 🏡

What a fantastic afternoon at the Western Australian Institution of Surveyors (WAIS) - Surveyors WA July Conference 2026 last Friday 🎉

It was a privilege to serve as Master of Ceremonies for this year’s conference and to welcome such a strong turnout of surveying and spatial professionals from across Western Australia.

The conference provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing our profession, with presentations covering industry developments, leadership, innovation, policy and the future direction of surveying in WA.

A sincere thanks to all of our speakers for generously sharing their knowledge and expertise.

Events such as these demonstrate the strength of our profession and the importance of coming together to learn, collaborate and build connections across the industry.

Thank you to everyone who attended, our sponsors and industry partners for their continued support, and the WAIS team and volunteers who worked behind the scenes to make the event a success.

I look forward to continuing the conversation and building on the momentum generated throughout the day.

🌍 Today we celebrate Global Surveyors Day 🌎

A day to recognise a profession that quite literally shapes the world around us.

From defining land boundaries and enabling new communities, to supporting major infrastructure, massive mining projects and embracing cutting-edge spatial technologies - Surveyors are involved with it all.

In Western Australia and across the globe, the demand for skilled surveyors continues to grow. As our cities expand and the need for housing and infrastructure increases, so too does the importance of the work we do.

Surveying is more than measurements and plans. It’s about problem solving, innovation and helping create sustainable and connected communities.

I’m proud to be part of this profession and to work alongside so many dedicated individuals who continue to raise the standard of surveying every day.

To all surveyors across all disciplines — thank you for the vital role you play and Happy Global Surveyors Day!

Surveyors’ Trust Workshop & Surveying Presidents’ Summit 2026

Big thank you to The Surveyors’ Trust for hosting a great workshop in Brisbane earlier this week, bringing surveying leaders from across Australia together to discuss the future of our profession at a national level.

It was great to see how each state is connecting with schools and the next generation of surveyors with excellent work underway in education and early engagement along with impressive research coming out of UniSQ Surveying and Spatial Science department.

It was also fantastic to have survey institution Presidents from across the country from various disciplines in the same room, having open and honest discussions and agreeing on the importance of keeping a national conversation going.

Strong collaboration across all states is vital for the continued growth of our surveying profession here in Australia.
