Heater cores are the lifeblood of the heating system during the cold months!
While heater cores are considered a part of the AC system, they actually use hot engine coolant - not refrigerant - to generate heat. This connects them to the overall cooling system.
The hot coolant flows inside the core tubes, the core fins absorb this heat and transfer it to the air flowing through it. This air is then sent into the cabin of the car via the blower motor.
